Masayoshi Fujita is a Japanese vibraphonist and composer based in Berlin. Masayoshi first learned how to play the drums, followed by extensive vibraphone training to craft and play his own compositions.

Determined not to stick to traditional vibraphone styles or techniques and theory of composition, he seeks his own sound of vibraphone and new possibility of it. Masayoshi also prepares his instrument with strings of bead, strips of foil and similar objects. The resulting new sounds, akin to distortions, help to expand the vibraphone spectrum without eroding the instrument’s intrinsic character or even abandoning it altogether.

Inspired by the silence and deepness of the fog, the mountains and the gravity within, His music evokes images, atmospheres, sceneries and stories in the listener, the images that have accumulated in himself. At the same time he explores the unexplored beauty of the vibraphone, and pursues the charm of the instrumentation 
and the music itself.

Under his electronic solo project alias, el fog, Masayoshi combines the vibraphone and analogue/digital electronic sound and textured noises using divers experimental methods.

His recent collaboration with German electronic musician Jan Jelinek received a lot of attention from experimental music fans around the world

Composer/Musician. Born in 1983. Based in Chiba, Japan. He made his CD debut with Rallye Label in 2006. He has released seven albums. The latest work is "Instruments 3" (2025). He specializes in organic electronic music that interweaves instrumental performance and programming.​ His live performances include improvised multi-recordings. In recent years, he has been performing mainly in the form of background music at various places such as bookstores, museums, and libraries throughout Japan.​ In addition to his own activities, he has composed music for films such as “Misaki no Mayoiga" (Director: Shinya Kawatsura, CV: Mana Ashida, etc., Original Story: Sachiko Kashiwaba), "Little Forest" (Director: Junichi Mori, Cast: Ai Hashimoto, etc., Original Story: Daisuke Igarashi), as well as for NHK E-television's "Aokiiro" ,"Q - Philosophy for Children," as well as for TV programs, dramas, commercials, and BGM for stores.​ He is also active in the music project "BGM LAB." with KENJI KIHARA.​
