For its sixth release, PLEXUS RECORDS is very proud to introduce BARRIO, cuban-native producer, with a brand new concept album called «PLAY THIS ONLY AT NIGHT».

BARRIO's first appearance was in 2009 under his ROOQ alias, on the Mochilla CD "Beats and the abstract truth" mixed by RAS G. He produces for the french rap club «L’ADLD», also for the futurist duo «MY NINA» on Cosmonostro Records. His last appearance was few months ago on the compilation «La Boulangerie vol.3» (Nowadays Records).

«PLAY THIS ONLY AT NIGHT» is his first full-length album with features on the mic by DISTANTSTARR (Expansions Collective / Divine Atoms), SADIQUE «NV» DABALE (Bight of Benin), PL (SoulFamilia) and MAODEA (De la Boucle) on a co-produced track.

BARRIO explores the psychedelic form of beatmaking by using raw progressive rock samples coming straight from the 70's era and dirty african loops. Be sure to experience a true mystic, mind-altering trip listening to this crazy project !

This LP is a limited edition of 500 copies, hand-numbered and pressed on 180gr. Download card for digital format is included, plus a 12’‘x12’’ poster.

Om Unit's Mahakala alias returns with the second installment of the Mahakala trilogy. 

'Tomahawk' on the A side is a hypnotic dancefloor stepper complete with dread inducing technoid sound design, and a rolling feel in the drums, with elements of techstep and jungle fused into a solidified concrete Junglist weapon. 

The flip sees Mahakala transform into a spaced out drumfunk workout, taking the 'alligator boogalo' break to new heights over a pastel soundscape, with moments of tension and release that create the cerebral workout that is 'The Realms'.

Basic Rhythm follows up his album 'On The Threshold' with an EP that lays out the explicit connections between hardcore and footwork. A connection made even clearer by the inclusion of a rare remix by Chicago footwork originator RP Boo.

2 Da Core's punchy rolling drums are levelled up against rough samples and a vocal hook pitched up and down in classic hardcore style. Get Up runs a tubby bass under hazy vocal samples and weird sound effects. RP Boo's remix of 2 Da Core disassembles the track into pieces, building a stalking helicopter-like rhythm which plays hide and seek with the samples, while the closing track Nuh Ramp rounds off the EP with tumbling micro-edited rhythms and a melody built from small colourful sounds that draw on the Caribbean roots of this music.
