RADIO AMAZONIA- a remote education program based on AM radio airwaves for the families of the communities in Maynas and Loreto-Nauta in the Peruvian Amazon.

The project is led by the Vicariato Apostólico de Iquitos with the support of the Regional Directorate of Education in Loreto (DREL) and funding partners. With your donation we will be able to complete the production of 2.000 out of 7.000 planned eco-friendly radio-receivers for school students to attend the radio- educational programs "Al Son de Manguaré" and "La Voz de La Selva" and further donations will provide financing for the logistics and capacitation of teachers and families.

While some might consider DES a newer artist, he has been on the scene as early as 2012 with his massive single on Moveltraxx, Jumpin Duck. With remixes from Lazy Ants, DJ Earl, Javier Estrada, Vatican Swag and Oui’wack (now Wiwek), Jumpin Duck was a heavy-hitter.   With his last release in 2014 on the Tunacat Label REBIRTH, DES now returns with Milan / Florence, a heavy Afro-bass EP on VOODOO REBEL inspired by a trip from his hometown Milan to VR’s headquarter Florence, with three original tracks and three remixes.   
The EP moves between DES’s banging electro house sound and VR’s more tropical, experimental sound, with remixes from global bass heavy-hitter’s Motin, the Italian Balera Favela ambassador prp, Tunacat’s Boogaloo & Bizt. The title track creates the right tension with a tribal African chant that transforms into a subdriven, powerful cumbia/breakbeat track. Ramen & Churches stands out as the most wild track on the EP, with a high-pitched synth and batucadas on a loopy chant. Florence / Milan is a slow moombahton track, where the Brazilian berimbau meets a digiridoo for a mystical, middle-Eastern feel. 
On the remix side, Motin gives us a superb remix of Florence / Milan, creating a minimal moombahton track. Prp’s remix of Ramen & Churches drives the dance floor into a middle-Eastern journey, with six vibe-heavy minutes of intense teleportation. Last but not least, Boogaloo & Bizt turn the original into a groovy house tune, driven by a hypnotic synth and an irresistible drum pattern.

Daniel Haaksman´s "La Añoranza" ft. Coco Maria, Dengue Dengue Dengue and Ori Kaplan has become a bit of a surprise underground hit lately. Praised and played out by DJs such as Branko, Bambii, Populous, Tash LC and King Doudou while receiving global radio airplay from Mexico to New Zealand as well as placements on various big Spotify playlists, the lead single off Daniel´s acclaimed “With Love, From Berlin” album has grown into a secret tropical slow-jam-bomb.

To extend the worldwide heat surrounding “La Añoranza”, we decided to add additional remixes to the sizzle. Remix one is by Spanish reggaeton and dancehall don Merca Bae, who has lately mesmerized the world with his slick remixes and productions. Merca Bae´s rework manouvers the formerly Kizomba rooted “La Añoranza” greatly into the dembow continuum. Remix two is by Lisbon hot ticket Rastronaut, one of the rising talents of the Enchufada crew. His remix makes “La Añoranza” playable for the more uptempo club heads. Remix three is by Rotterdam jack-of-all-trades-bass, Omar Duro, who has delivered a great Tamborzão version. 

And finally, by popular demand, there´s the instrumental version of “La Añoranza” for all you tarraxo and zouk bass fans out there.

It´s been almost 9 months since Daniel Haaksman´s laid back “With Love, From Berlin” album was released, and looking back to its release date from today, it has stayed fresh all those months and is still being discovered by new listeners. The album and its many single releases have stayed afloat particularly because of the steady flow of high-class remixes by piping hot producers such as Kelman Duran, Merca Bae, Rastronaut, Lazy Flow or godfathers like Mad Professor which came out since the album´s release, accompanying the single releases to the album

Now its the time to put out a whole batch of additional tracks of “With Love, From Berlin” to the world which haven´t been remixed yet. As with the remixer cast of the single releases, the list of producers who were comissioned for retouching is flaming, upcoming hotness.

Brasilia based producer and DJ kLap, who´s weekly releases of baile funk remixes is turning heads on Soundcloud and beyond has reworked the album´s debut single “Overture” in a 150 bpm style, currently all the rage in baile funk. New York´s Atropolis, much in demand expert in the low frequency level blending of various global sounds reshaped “Love Horns” into a deep, trap style remix. German hot ticket Paul Mond, hyped by the Soulection crew amongst others for his acoustic guitar driven, bass heavy mash ups, made a fantastic samba-trap version from “Como Sera” ft. Lavoisier. Originally a fado inspired song, Paul Mond spun the melancholic original into a sunny, Brazil bass grenade, playing all additional instruments himself! Avernian + Strick, currently praised as the emerging hard drum king pins, remade “Occupy Berlin” ft. Kalaf + She´s Drunk into a Berghain compatible club monster. And finally Moscow´s Fisky, who also shaped “Wolkenreise” into a melancholic hard drum version.

All in all containing nine remixes, “With Love, From Berlin – Remixes” will show the greatness of the original album in contemporary club mode. Now play the remixes out loud!

Los Defensores - Pandilla (Dengue Dengue Dengue Remix) taken from Humos EP Vol. 3, the last part of the vinyl release series celebrating 10th anniversary of @dengue 

The story of this track dates back to 2015 when during my stay in Peru I got to spend a week in Lamas, a lovely town in the Peruvian part of the Amazon rainforest. One day, while waiting for food in the nearby village called Tabalosos, I suddenly heard very raw and intensive music based on fast percussive rhythms that seemed endless. Until that point I was rather surrounded by salsa, cumbia, reggaeton and música criolla so such vigorous sound came to me as a total shock and got me hooked instantly. It turned out that this music was pandilla, a queen of Amazonian folklore.

Thanks to Nelly Valverde and her family I got my hands on a CD filled with over eight hours of pandilla recordings. Fortunately I kept it safe, subconsciously understanding the great value of this material. Few months later I started Basy Tropikalne (back then operating simply as a radio show only) and some time after that I began searching for information about pandilla - which turned out to be almost nonexistent in English and very limited even in Spanish. I fantasized how amazing it would be to translate it into electronic music and hence introduce a new, completely fresh genre. In order to be culturally consistent I thought that it should be done by Peruvian producers - and when you think of electronic music and Peru, Dengue Dengue Dengue come into your head first.

Amazingly enough, the duo liked the idea and after our first meeting in real life in early 2018 it became clear that the project will be continued. It was firstly announced to the public later that year when Dengue Dengue Dengue got to perform at the opening night of the world-renowned Unsound Festival with a special show that focused on this concept of pandilla explorations - it was the first time that this genre was presented to a broader audience outside of Peru.

The track that we are premiering here opens another chapter by showcasing pandilla in the environment of electronic music within an official release. It was based on the recording of a group from Tarapoto called Los Defensores and it cleverly highlights the crucial elements of the genre - melodies played on wind instrument in very high notes and steady percussive sections - turning the song into a mesmerizing gem.
