What is the last song you listened to before answering this Q&A? 

Pharaoh & Yogg - The Ultra Machine, I’m just listening through my music ahead of a gig next week in Belgium, usually I’ve got some weird floaty sounds on or a very nerdy audiobook on Biology or history haha, this is unusually heavy for my daytime / laptop admin activities.

What would you like to see in the future for the dance community?

Sustainable, realistic opportunities for all, and more support for artists to create without compromising on time / money to survive….I think this is creating a narrower pool of people who can pursue artistry…also for nightlife, music, all creative musical pursuits, to be recognised for their true value, with support schemes set up to help people pursue and thrive in these areas…

Stefan Dubs aka Maquis Son Sistèm from Toulouse introduces Le Son du Maquis, an intricate soundtrack for his many activities in the South of France. It&amp#39;s a dub trip, yet taking every detours available through a wider electronic répertoire, intertwining experimental with breaks and more influences.

Wings of D’sire is the sonic bi-product of the friendship between party-enjoyers / closed-eyed dancers / Gadigal-based DJs Maria Wang @dgradeknockoff and Liam Taylor @wiiingnut. Inspired by a spectrum of frenetic, bossy and beautiful sounds, Wings of D’sire pursue the margins of dance music as they navigate us through boisterous and emotive waves of sub-bass.

This is a re-recording of their monumental set at Soft Centre 2023. Originally recorded at Carriageworks on Gadigal land.

Glad to share with you the first volume of our new mix series, lazed. A monthly rendez-vous imagined as a new playground of musical expression focused on listening music. 

For this first episode, we're glad to welcome the artist Elvira. Inspired by her different sound practices in the performing arts and the electro-acoustic environment, she owns a very singular take on electronic music that is slowly making its way to ears around Europe. 

Elvira: « I imagined a cockroach wandering in a desert, the sun hitting hard causing dehydration leading to hallucinations. Sometimes voices appear, other times insects squeak. At some point the cockroach is tormented cus it falls on his back and is incapable of turning around. »
