Recorded live Oct 3, 2021 in Berlin on Tag der Clubkultur, a day inaugurated last year by the city's Club Commission, in the height of the pandemic, as a way to draw attention to the importance of nightlife artists & spaces, and a way to disperse some much needed grant money.   We so appreciate living in a city that values our importance, creating initiatives like this.  

October 3rd is Germany's reunification day.  The reunification of east and west brought together a generation that was able to start healing themselves to the fresh soundtrack of electronic music.  We are proud to call this place our home, as it is still a magnetic place that draws many from all over the globe, pilgrims of the mother beat.

During the pandemic these two started Nightshade, a radio program on Cape Cod Public Radio.

More about Chuck:

San Francisco transplant by-way of Los Angeles, Chuck Gunn is a co-founder and resident of QAOTIQ, a queer rave based in California's Bay Area that aims to uplift and champion BIPOC/Trans artists. His fresh and spacey take on house and techno is shaped by the acid, dub and microhouse movements that grew out of 90's minimal techno. Chuck moves through various textures, from rugged terrain, spaced out atmospheres, dub rhythms, all balled up in a bounce & grace that smacks the dance floor again and again, relentless you might say. For many this kind of built pressure can take decades in the DJ booth to develop. Gunn's range and skill can hold down any underground dance floor and it's obvious that we're not the only ones that have taken notice as Chuck plays up and down the West Coast at clubs & festivals alike.

Shaun J. Wright (@shaunjwright) is an underground staple in their hometown of Chicago who has more recently been found DJing around the world. With over a decade as a creator, musician and artist, Wright came to prominence through their work with Hercules and Love Affair and via the label Twirl they run today with Alinka.  Shaun is a champion of queer identity within dance music and outside of it. Traditionally a house DJ, Shaun recently played 2 unannounced techno sets at Buttons in Berlin to high acclaim, and their set at Basement was no different.  They kicked off an amazing 1st night for Balance playing 10pm-2am.
