Symptoms of Evidence 02/22 by CENSE

Radio Benska is a show focused on Eastern Europe and the US Midwest. It operates at the peripheries of cultural power, celebrating artist who survive their environments.

This month’s mix comes from @mudaki. mʊdʌki is an audiovisual artist, sound designer and sonic curator from Minsk, Belarus, based in Usti nad Labem, Czech republic. She is devoting her work to various aspects of sound with a focus on audio performance, site-specific installations and composing. One of the essential layers of her work are networks (CENSE, @phononcrew , Auxig), and offspaces with a self-organized approach. 

Polina implies expanding the perception of both intimate and shared environment within her work, be it uncovering and operating with invisible but yet existing physical fields or addressing existential topics on a personal level.

PARAL·LEL MEMORIES:

September 2, 2022, was not just any regular date. It was the day we were ready to head to the mountains.

We remember as if it was yesterday, especially during the lockdown (early 2020) when, with a drink in the right hand and a cigarrete in the left, we were sharing videos of Paral·lel on full-size-screen when we were taking a rest from curating .apart (digging music and reciving huge artists deliveries with its corresponding attentive listening). That was our happy daily routine. 

Continuing with Paral·lel, the family reunion that was breathed on those vids could be smelled through the screen. It was that kind of "made in Spain festival" with exquisite care. And we were not wrong!

Once assisted, finally there in real life...(sights)…the experience was highly gratifying. This community of honest people and the music itself reaffirmed why we persist on this. 

As we did with ‘primeras piedras’, we want to share with you some music. This time, some bits and memories captured with our handy-recorders on those days. Scored and processed after with our gear. A way to say thank you.

Cuillère à soupe avec Fearless Alfredo 02/01/2023

Last summer I experienced a night of intense and persistent sleep paralysis, with this hallucinating sensation that a very evil force was roaming around me. It embodied in the form of a violent wind rushing in my room to carry me off. As soon as I was going back to sleep, the same scene was starting again and I couldn't fight against it.

I tried to reproduce the sensations I had during this peculiar night through this sound collage piece, which is full of dark ambient, drone and gloomy experimental sounds.
