‎الأرض والحرية - Land and freedom - Tierra y Libertad - Terre et liberté - Земля та Свобода - Երկիր և Ազատությունը - Жер және бостандық 

This new edition of 24 hrs/Palestine will take place on April 6 and 7, midway between two important dates for Palestine: Land Day (March 30) and Prisoner’s Day (April 17). The contributions and interventions of this new edition are an attempt to think with these two days in the midst of the colonial war and genocide in Gaza.
 
Land and Freedom are not just slogans. They are daily struggles that the Palestinian people have been waging for decades. Marching on 1m² of earth or digging a few cm into a prison floor with a spoon are acts of resistance whose echoes will be reverberating around the world on April 6 and 7, 2024.

Land and freedom. These words will circulate across languages and geographies. Tierra y Libertad, الأرض والحرية, Земля та Свобода, Terre et Liberté... They are part of, and resonate within, a revolutionary and anti-colonialist pathway rooted in peasant movements for land, fights against slavery, fights against layers of oppression, for liberation, and for self-determination.

Reverberating resistances programme Radio Fantasia x Plotting Institute text: 
Reverberating Resistances is a translocal sharing of sonic statements, relating land-based struggles.  It is co-organised by Radio Fantasia and Plotting Institute. 
Overlapping liberation struggles show that colonialism is an international project, maintained by competition and collaboration between Western and non-Western empires. How to carry each other’s voices as they keep being silenced?  To counter violent imperial clashes and overlaps, we create a space for reverberations in solidarity with resistance to Israeli settler colonial project.  Participants resonate with Palestinian struggle from situated positions of Crimean Tatar, Ukranian, Armenian, Uyghur, Bashkort, Qazaq resistances to Russian, Turkish, Azerbaijani, Chinese states colonial projects. 

We start from grief for the lives taken and lands contaminated. To find the methods of sabotage, refusal and reclamation, we analyse the imperial overlaps and exchanges of deadly technologies. And then move towards collectively crafting a radical hope to echo across contexts.

"Last year, I was invited to perform at SPRH’s annual fundraiser event ‘Beats across Borders’, dedicated to supporting refugees in Paris. I created a 3 decks set for this occasion, weaving together artists from the SWANA region and beyond. As an artist (and a human mostly), engaging in charity events and volunteering to NGO° has been an integral part of my journey from the outset. 

In an age where struggles are disturbingly confined to the digital realm, and cultural workers are closely associated to their digital persona, I find peace in tangible actions. I thrive through them as a (very tiny) form of relief in myself amidst the out-of-control global chaos in the world - at different scales of intensity in each specific places. I believe that the value lies not in who does the most, but in each individual making a contribution, commensurate with their own capacity and resources - be it emotional or material. It’s a collective endeavor and journey we must undertake together, uniting in solidary to confront the challenges ahead. Only through community we can heal and progress in these uncertain times."

Sainte Marina is Paris-born/based Lebanese artist, distorting reality through her approach of djing. Layering sounds ranging from dark ambient to rythmic noise, her sets are build as liquid narratives haunted by voice samples from poetry to political archives. Navigating a wide range of genres and emotions, she sparks intensity through combining melodious sounds with more dissonant and brutal ones. Resident at Hong Kong Community Radio (HKCR) with her '𝕻𝖍𝖆𝖓𝖙𝖆𝖘𝖒𝖆𝖌𝖔𝖗𝖎𝖆’ show, she has played with several collectives across Europe.

°Sciences Po Refugee Help is an NGO that brings together over 100 students to help refugees in Paris with everything from legal help to French lessons. 

Each year SPRH puts together a fundraiser night of music called ‘Beats across Borders’ to celebrate local and refugee talents whilst directly funding refugee projects in Paris.

Use Knife is the Belgian-Iraqi band formed by Kwinten Mordijck, Saif Al-Qaissy and Stef Heeren, in collaboration with visual artist Youniss Ahamad.

In September 2022, Use Knife released their debut album, 'The Shedding of Skin,' on VIERNULVIER records (Gent, BE). This record revolved around human resilience and the courage to build a new life in an entirely different environment. One year later, Use Knife returned with ‘Sowieso F***ed’, a provocative anthem characterized by its chaotic blend of samples and sounds, “There is nothing half-hearted about Use Knife as a live act. You get the distinct feeling that each member is totally energised by this iteration of their collective art. A Belgian article dubbed their sound “electronic outsider music,” yet for me it is an all-embracing vortex that allows those experiencing it a chance to plunge, headfirst, into a hypnotic state that veers between a dreamlike trance and a sensual workout.” wrote The Quietus.

On April 8 2024, Use Knife released the remix 10” vinyl EP 'Peace Carnival' through Berlin's Morphine Records. Zoë Mc Pherson, Rabih Beaini, and Muqata’a have reinterpreted three tracks from Use Knife's debut album. The EP challenges the narrative around peace through its percussions, glitches, distortions, and Muslimgauze-esque minimalism to rethink and transform perceptions of justice and freedom.

This year, Carnival’s usual satire and mockery target any one-sided ‘peace’.

Since February 2023, Use Knife has been hosting a monthly radio show titled 'Feeding the Gentry' on Palestinian station 'Radio alHara' (also featured on NTS Radio, Rinse.fm, and Kiosk Radio).

is a Canadian interdisciplinary artist, co-founder of 𝙿𝚊𝚜𝚜 𝚔𝚎𝚢 w/ @obinr – mix series on HKCR + live event series and student attending UFV School of Creative Arts exploring elements of storytelling, cosmology, religion, and personal recollections expressed through dark, poetic narrative.

Preferred mediums consist mainly of found object sculpture installation, and experimental video & audio recordings. Drawing from both real life experience and fictional literature, his work recontextualizes themes of lovecraftian horror and ritualistic iconography. His work is meant to deliver an immersive, personalised mythology relative to his unique style of world-building.

He has since worked on independent sculptures working with artists 𝚇𝚊𝚏𝚢𝚊, 𝚂𝚊𝚖 𝚂𝚝𝚛𝚎𝚎𝚝 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚃𝚢 𝙼𝚊𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚗𝚜 and has had work shown in sculptural group shows in Vancouver, BC, Zurich, SZ and Abbotsford, BC.

Since founding experimental collective and label Passkey alongside Oeane Robinson, he’s worked on stage design for a collaborative event with Sarahsson hosted by One Winged Angel. Other stage design installation includes 2 events hosted by 𝙿𝚊𝚜𝚜𝚔𝚎𝚢, one for the release of nsc’s album ‘𝙿𝚎𝚊𝚌𝚎 𝚂𝚢𝚖𝚋𝚘𝚕’ and one for a show performed at VIVO Media Arts Centre.

He has recordings available on formforum’s ‘͠D͠e͠a͠c͠c͠e͠s͠s͠i͠o͠n͠ ͠F͠o͠r͠m͠s͠’͠ compilation. Other musical performances include radio appearances on Hong Kong Community Radio, and Vancouver’s CiTR 101.9, and live events with frequent collaborator x/o as well as Swan Meat, Estoc, Umru, Endgame, and a duo act with Swiss artist Xafya known as Sintering for Endless BazaarLucerne.

Thy Truong (they/she) is a transdisciplinary artist working and living in Basel, Switzerland since 2018. In the past three years Thy has been working more as DJ and sound-artist around Basel / Zurich. Their sound pieces consists of poetic story-telling, voices and altered fieldrecordings are inseparable from their artistic practise, hence installations. 

Learning various foreign languages as a child later lead them to the choice of creating poetry infused soundscapes. A self-taught mechanism, in order to make sense of the two ‘cultures colliding’ and natural outcome to perceive and produce language, that does not only dictate functionality but intends to create emotionality, sensation, and atmosphere, in order to manifest the world(s) inbetween and within all its complexities.

The themes of their works are (personal) memories and psychological mental states, both in relation to bicultural contexts. Because: “Ultimately, everyone is made of memories. This is the only thing that remains of us when we go.” Another fundament to all of Truong’s future researches is a much deeper understanding of the complex term ‘shadow’, which has been explored through various works such as , “KODAMA”, and “gentle songs to flickering eyes”. 

“Words and sounds re-create life, therefore a world in need to be told in frequencies, textures and mother-tongue.”

relief and escape is like childplay
of hide and seek
to find the token one needs to live
what if the itch continued and pain continues and there is no salvation?
you die, eventually – that’s relief
so, is dying partially related to that feeling? 
is the feeling of relief the moment one dies? 
just for a short moment, one dies
so similar to sleep

to those, whose memories being erased, whose identity vanished 
to those eyes, that have seen horrors of humanity, 
the colours and shapes of violence, that can never be washed away
but do never forget those eyes, that can remember beauty
whose memory carry hope, lessons and learning 
the vibrance of life

‘The feeling to be ‘otherd’ by your surrounding has been my companion since I moved to Europe 23 years ago. It did not matter how perfect my dialect was or how much I shaped and moved my hands the way they did. I’d copy their walk, their talk, their anger and even their laughter. It was never enough – I was never enough. All I was for them was my straight, black hair, my full lips, my black pupils gazing through my differently shaped eyes.’ – excerpt of a diary entry.

On some days only, I feel the eyes on my face. It’s irritating, but it has lost the power to make me question my existence - even more it would assure me in what I am and what I do. 

To listen means to see the invisible. Because internal matters of a human being and other invisible forces like spirits and traces of what we are (memory) and what our society once used to be (history). To tilt the focal point away from the ‘body’ and towards what one hears and feels, instead of what one sees.

In order to hold a world together, four of my sound-pieces from the past became one. It holds together the question of 1) nature being spiritual, 2) the human body being a prison and 3) to release oneself from physical boundary, 4)enabling the act of sleep as of recovery.
