On the Way to DAAD is a new series coming to your every second Saturday, showcasing the sounds and artists you can expect at the second technolicious gathering in the Valley next summer. In this first edition we're presenting a b2b set from Detective Kelly /resident Der Morgen crew member, warmup set master/ and Man+Machine /DJ, producer, music selector addicted to post-industrialism, cyberpunk, futurism and neon lights/, both integral part of the Hungarian underground music scene. Their first back-to-back set was a random idea at the last Raveyard before the 2020 lockdown, becoming one of the last DJ sets at the legendary Budapest Dürer Kert club before the venue closed for good. Now they are teaming up again for Daad. This 90-min-mix includes some fresh stuff from their favorite labels, some released and unreleased tracks from Man + Machine.

Vedat Akdağ, native Turkish DJ, lives and plays his sets and mixes in various underground clubs of Budapest (Hungary) where he currently lives. Discovering music by playing drums, he developed a intense passion for techno music at an early age. His live performances are powerful and subtile mixes of dynamic emotions and mind-blowing beats. He titles this mix 'Haram Electronics', which he recorded at his home studio with lots of tea and ginger.

Our next journey into the world of downtempo comes from the up-and-coming artists @ueberhaupt_ausserdem. They are known for many of their own productions, which have been released on relevant labels in recent months. 

Their sound is strongly reminiscent of classic deep house, although of course the whole thing takes place at a reduced speed. The tracks in the podcast tie in seamlessly with their previous output and it is a pleasure to listen to their flow over 90 minutes.

We are all creatures of habits and skills that are deeply ingrained in all of us. While we use, perfect, and learn them in our everyday life, they become our Second Nature without our conscious thought. At the same time it represents the new us, our physical and mental rebirth, in the end a better us. From my point of view, it is the image of the Second album: the Second or new chapter in life, the Second or a new chance to become better in everything I do, and everything I am.

'Second Nature' symbolizes FLEGMA's second studio album that will take you on a real psychedelic progressive trip. It all starts with ancestral sounds of 'Tunkul', taking you slowly through downtempo tribal sounds into a world of FLEGMA psy-prog groove - 'PsyBizarre'. Taking the next step, you will find your 'Second Nature' and loose yourself to 'The Dance Of Trance'. You will loose yourself, you will loose your personality, you forget your name, you forget your job, you forget your status, you forget your future, you forget your past... and what you're involved in is now, and now... is blissful!

And as the journey goes on, you reach the 'Desert of Real' where you won't be able to recognize illusions from reality, time and space will vanish and you will feel like an 'Inok' - a one who lives alone - hermit, anchorite. And that's where you will find your true inner self, in a 'Mirror Universe'. Only then, you will be able to reach the final state of 'Ultima'.

Album contains 8 solo tracks and 2 collaborations with Zyce and Relativ, all packed and signed with well-known FLEGMA sound: energetic & groovy bass-line, progressive rhythmic, hypnotic breaks and intertwining melodies.

Sobek & Mulya are on their way to the next DAAD Gathering, where they will treat us to an exclusive b2b set. SOBEK is not only known for his Egyptian crocodile god's name, but also for deconstructing glossy polished originals with his unrivaled remixing talent and creating innovative and thought-provoking original music across many sub genres, earning him support from some of the biggest names on the scene like Pete Tong, Dixon, Ame, Adam Port, Black Coffee and Adana Twins. In 2021 he founded the Complaint Kulture label together with long-time friend and studio partner Mulya. MULYA, a progressive mastermind with a father who’s an opera conductor, his destiny was written. Hit by the wind of the progressive house movement, Mulya dug deep into harmonies and melodies around the late 2000’s. Keeping the flow of rolling synth lines and complex productions, he stepped out with his first EP ”Marvin” on MoBlack Records; the tune played by a wide range of A list artists from different genres and created a huge wave through the summer of 2017, followed by a brilliant three-tracker at Super Flu’s Monaberry, a sonic message from future galaxies. Don’t expect else than heavy drums, accurate production and deep vibes from the man behind the name MULYA.

We said yes, and started a sparking new night called, Museum of Modern Rituals. Always with a guest, probably with a live musician. The little but friendly club, called Ambient started its journey and we found a good cause to reach far out in the tremendously colorful world of electronic dance music, and deeper into the world, eastern, outernational, native, folktronic and abstract genres. Armin than closed the doors and started a more sunny part of his life, than suddenly sent me a mix, which i really liked. Moments oF Aether Club series kicks off this series with KATAMII and her set, which she played after Efdemin at AETHER Club in October 2023. If you've been to O.Z.O.R.A. Festival, you've probably heard Katamii playing. Her sets are elemental parts of the Pumpui stage, meanwhile she's one of the musical leaders and managers of the stage. Everything started in 2011 at O.Z.O.R.A. She played there in front of a major audience for the first time. In 2019 she become the resident DJ in Budapest one of most famous leading techno club the AETHER 'TAEC' party series. She has a really impulsive style and you can always find that sneaky deep pulse in her music that is present through her sets… She's a real wolf in sheep's clothing.

This is KATAMII's set that she played after Rødhåd at this year's Daad Gathering promo party at Turbina. If you've ever been to O.Z.O.R.A. Festival, you've probably caught Katamii playing. Her sets are elemental parts of Pumpui, while she's also one of the music organizers and managers of the stage. Everything started in 2011 at O.Z.O.R.A. She played there in front of a major audience for the first time. Since then she's been the warm up artist for Yonti, The Lady Machine, KUSS, Sam Paganini, Tapefeed, Matrixxman, Marcal, Kr!z, Oliver Lieb, Moteka, Unbalance, Rene Wise, Arkan, Norman Nodge, Ignez, Olivia Mendez, Efdemin. She has shared decks with RØDHÅD, Blanka, Border One, Vil, Cravo, Deniro, Dj Kancheli, LYRIC, Mathys Lenne, Yogg, Truncate, Ø [Phase], Janina, Blue Hour, Thomas Hessler, Shlomi Aber, Luigi Tozzi, Claudio PRC and many more. She’s a resident artist at the Kolorado Festival since 2017. In 2019 she became the resident DJ in Budapest’s one of the most famous leading techno clubs the AETHER’s TAEC party series. D-Nox is an internationally renowned performer, respected by DJs, and clubbers alike for his highly creative, and innovative sets. The style of his DJ sets varies through progressive and tech house while incorporating aspects of techno, and trance. His skill with the turntables, excellent choice of tracks, and unique charisma combine to provide an exceptional experience. Aside from DJing, D-Nox is head of the Sprout and Plastik Park record labels with many of these releases finding their way into the playlists of top-class DJs, such as John Digweed, and Pete Tong, amongst many others. And then of course who can forget his work alongside Frank Beckers, under their D-Nox & Beckers moniker, a name that is synonymous with many of the scene’s classic tracks.

The German will be in Australia in the coming weeks for the Enchanted Gardens party in Melbourne, which follows a highly-talked about set at the past Rainbow Serpent Festival. It’s been a long time coming, but we finally have D-Nox on board for a Balance Selections mix…
