Liechtenstein is a landlocked country in the Alpine region of Central Europe and the sixth-smallest country in the world. According to its constitution, it is a principality organized as a constitutional hereditary monarchy on a democratic-parliamentary basis. The House of Liechtenstein provides the sovereign; sovereignty is shared equally between the sovereign and the people.

The Alpine Rhine forms the border between the Alpine countries of Liechtenstein and Switzerland in the west; to the east, the principality borders Austria. The state is divided into two electoral districts and eleven municipalities. The capital and princely seat is Vaduz. The largest town in terms of area is Triesenberg, and the most populous is Schaan. The merged towns of Schaan, Vaduz, and Triesen together form an agglomeration with approximately 17,300 inhabitants. The heavily cultivated north (Unterland) and the less cultivated south (Oberland) characterize the landscape of the principality.

With 40,032 inhabitants, Liechtenstein is the smallest state in the German-speaking world. The official language is German (more details below). The Liechtenstein dialects spoken in everyday life belong to the Alemannic dialect. The proportion of foreigners is approximately 34 percent.

The principality, founded in 1719, was an immediate territory of the Holy Roman Empire until 1806. It subsequently became a member of the Confederation of the Rhine and, from 1815, of the German Confederation, thus gaining sovereignty. Due to the princes' ties to the Habsburg monarchy, Liechtenstein aligned itself with Austria until 1919. Since 1923, the country has been closely linked administratively and economically with neighboring Switzerland through a customs treaty. At that time, the Swiss franc was also introduced as Liechtenstein's currency. These steps had a very positive economic impact, but Liechtenstein's strong economic recovery only began after the Second World War.

Liechtenstein has one of the highest industrial production rates in the world, with approximately 41 percent of gross value added coming from industry and manufacturing.

Like Switzerland, Liechtenstein is a member of the United Nations (UN) and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), but not of the European Union (EU); unlike Switzerland, Liechtenstein is a member of the European Economic Area (EEA).

Even as a small child I wanted to learn a musical instrument...

...since there was a music school in our small town where I grew up, but it was limited to the activities of the local musicians' band, the choice was rather limited... because piano, guitar or saxophone were not offered and that's why I decided me for the trumpet, which was not used for cast-technical reasons, so the FLÜGELHORN became my instrument...
