Thousands of years ago when humans lived in small units as hunters and gatherers, the stress response functioned to help us escape predation. In modern society where predation is replaced with excessive homework and long work hours, stress is often prolonged and debilitating to our health.This is the result of a trait that was once adaptive in a previous environment becoming maladaptive in a new environment. This is sometimes referred to as evolutionary baggage, and it can also be applied to personality traits such as depression and anxiety.

With the recent passing of the great actor Robin Williams, I can't help but think about how extraordinarily well adapted he would have been in a hunter gatherer environment to promote group cohesiveness. It would have been people like him that gave our hunter gatherer ancestors psychological harmony. He would have been the life of the ceremony. This song is a tribute not only to the great writers, actors, and thinkers of our time, but to all the rampant people around the world who share those sleepless nights and that burning desire for knowledge, adventure, and a cure to cope with the tedious and disconnected routines of modern life.
