Saitō Sanki (1900 – 1962) was a dentist who discovered his passion for haiku poetry in his mid-thirties when his colleagues at the hospital in Soto Kanda convinced him to write a haiku for a collection. Later, he became one of the most important exponents of wartime haiku: he was imprisoned in 1940 during the government’s World War II persecution of controversial artists, and was officially forbidden to write until the end of the war.

This was the first Fly Nightmares recording from 2020. I would hope we have improved slightly over 5 years......... Listen at your own risk...... Remastered 2025. It was done in Garageband on an iPad in 3 sessions and edited together in Harmonicdog Mulitrack DAW, which is how I worked for a couple of years before upgrading to my new "rig". Had to use a stem splitter. You really couldn't hear much in the original, so this is somewhat new to me also. The mix was absolutely terrible. It's still pretty rough sound quality wise but...... I totally don't recall adding so much synth. You couldn't hear them. The drums are not quantized. Guitars were recorded using the iPad mic in the first section. Please excuse the vocals....
