The tritone is considered a dissonant interval (3 whole tones or 6 semitones pitch spacing). But ultimately it is only our dualistic comparative intellect that judges this. In the absolute, in the divine, these distinctions should no longer exist. The natural beauty in the seemingly imperfect can be more beautiful than the artificially perfect.

After trying many times, I finally composed my first hard rock song in my life. I managed to fit into the rock music category without compromising my musical style.
　I made it by destroying the Punishment Bus that I made once. I feel the joy of completing it all over my body.

Jeff (a.k.a. Stonerjazz, @user-911083679) sent me a sneak peak of his now released 'Anthology II' track that also featured TexMex Shaman. I couldn't get enough of the poem, titled Euphoria, that was featured in the second half. So I asked him if I could also work with the vocal track and do my own mix. Jeff's words always seem to resonate with me, and I thought this would be a fun kind of experimental trippy dream pop piece to kick off the new year. Happy 2024 all!

My eyes lift to see
A sky that is entirely
magnolia blooms

This is a haiku taken from Kusamakura (or The Three-Cornered World), a novel by Natsume Soseki.

A book that transcends the plot development of "standard" Western literature, this is a book about the nature of art and beauty, filled with lyrical beauty and internal monologues on what it means to be an artist.

To give you an idea, here's how the book starts:

“If you work by reason, you grow rough-edged; if you choose to dip your oar into sentiment’s stream, it will sweep you away. Demanding your own way only serves to constrain you. However you look at it, the human world is not an easy place to live. And when its difficulties intensify, you find yourself longing to leave that world and dwell in some easier one—and then, when you understand at last that difficulties will dog you wherever you may live, this is when poetry and art are born.”

One of the most influential modern Japanese writers, Natsume Soseki’s literary career started in 1903, with a series of haiku and renga published on various literary magazines.

Between 1900 and 1903 he studied at the UCL in London, but this proved to be quite a dramatic experience for the young Soseki. Despite this, when Soseki returned to Japan, he exploded into prolific writing activity.

I'm a composer, working from a 3' x 5' studio (some may call it a dinette) in a 5th wheel camper, while traveling the United States. I've been on the road for six years, so most of my recent work will have come from a different state (of mind and location) during my travels.

Music makes me feel better about everything. I don't know that I'm ever happier than when I am creating. I sometimes wonder if creativity isn't one of the primary keys to happiness. Do you ever feel better than when you say, "Look what I did."? This phrase magically conjures the purest sense of childlike joy.

Music works for every part of our lives. We all have music for when we are sad, happy, celebrating, meeting others, when we are alone, and even when we are lonely. Did a song come to mind as you read each of those situations? I remember the first song I ever heard on the radio, on my first bus ride to kindergarten. One of my favorite musical memories is playing in a band for steel beach on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz.

I love telling stories with music. Everybody loves John Coffey in the Green Mile, but Mr. Jingles should have a song commemorating his reaching and joining the circus at Mouseville. If you agree, join me for this and similar journeys. The music here is synthetic, but as real as you would choose to have it.
