Phil has been a musician for most of his life. His main interest’s are playing & performing bass guitar and classical guitar, he has a passion to share his knowledge with others through tutoring. He is an accomplished music composer, arranger, producer, and sound designer. He has worked with many different bands and ensemble’s covering many music genres, as a session musician & for a service within the community. Phil enjoys all music, but his favourites are jazz, funk, classical, and metal. His great passion was his time with heavy metal band Fearscape, where he toured, composed songs & recorded two studio albums. 

He completed a Bachelor of music at Western Sydney university, as well as music performance at Ultimo College of TAFE. While studying, Phil expanded upon his interest’s into music and the mind & investigated the microscopic world of sound hidden within other sounds. He now studies and researchers within the field of Acoustic Ecology, investigating the effects of music & sound on mental & physical health, & the influence of the environment. By observing this micro world through a musical lens, Phil hopes to uncover ways to help other autistic people and those struggling with disabilities to create a much more compatible environment. This passion stems from Phil's own unique way of perceiving music through Synesthesia. A world of sound seen as colours, Creating music is like painting the music of the heart on a transparent canvas.

David Hethorn dreams in melody and sculpts ephemeral epiphanies into three-minute acoustic pop songs. He has emerged from the Queensland live music scene as a seasoned songwriter, vocalist, innovative instrument maker and multi-instrumentalist.

David’s performance history includes support slots for luminaries such as The Bamboos and Christopher Brookes.  David is also fresh from a showcase slot at Splash! Macleay Island, headlined by champion Elvis impersonator, Gabe Phoenix. 

David finds himself searching for the human element in an increasingly robotic world and is following his dream of delivering passionate performances to local communities of music lovers.  Turn your hectic day around and slow down while you whistle along to "Perfect When I'm With You".

Blank Instrument is the moniker of Perth-based, singer-songwriter Kim Franklin.

A singer and lyricist for many years, Franklin embarked on a new journey in 2013 to learn the piano. Her first EP So Far (2020) captured unique snapshots from her life in the previous decade - a snowy train ride in London, the winding roads of WA’s southern coast, making a lifelong commitment and challenging expectations. 

During the quiet moments of the pandemic, the instrumental Cavern emerged, inspired by hikes in the hills.

So Far was followed by the EP My Piano Sounds Okay (2022), exploring different textures, and adding jazz and soul to indie folk. Recorded at Artisan Studios with producer Patrick Carre, it received airplay on community radio across Australia. 

In 2023, Franklin stretched her songwriting muscles by signing up for I Heart Songwriting Club and completing writing challenges from her piano teacher. "I started to pull on the threads of poems I'd written years before, to explore the underlying themes and emotions." It was cathartic, helping 'clear the cache' of Franklin's mind and allowing new ideas to flow. 

These songs have become Franklin's first full-length album. Recording began in winter 2024 at Sundown Studios with Elliot Smith (drums and production) and the talents of Lee Jones (piano, bass and guitar), Luke Dux (guitar) and Todd Walker (keyboards).

Singer, songwriter, storyteller, traveller

Carving a valid place for oneself in the music industry can be a challenging and beautifully rewarding task. Encompassing a wide range of musical ideas and influences has made Heather Bertoli a dynamic performer and musician.

The singer, pianist and songwriter derives lyrics from real-life experiences and captivates audiences with her raw honesty. Winning her first songwriting award at 12 years old, Heather leads a life obsessed with music. 

Heather offers an assortment of well-honed skills and has played at many prestigious QLD venues.  Her vocal abilities include Contemporary, Classical, Rock, Pop, Jazz and Blues styles and her growing repertoire is extensive. She has a Bachelor of Music (Contemporary Performance) majoring in vocal studies. 

Heather is currently writing her first solo EP and has recently supported the nationally acclaimed, multi-Aria award winning artist Wendy Matthews and was selected to participate in the final Independent Music Project run by QUT in Brisbane.
