X-Press 2 is the legendary award-winning UK duo with rock-solid status. Numerous hits and classics they have produced made them both critically acclaimed and beloved by international audiences. One of those classics is AC/DC! The single has been delivering excitement on the dance floors since the beginning of the century, and it was about time to come up with an equally exciting update. Guy J managed to keep all the recognizable elements of the original track while putting his apparent sound signature present. It is one of those remixes where the involvement of the remixer brings exponential improvement, making it larger than life. The other part of this two-track release is no less impressive! Future is a masterpiece by Halo Varga from the year 2000. It was probably impossible to see the longevity of this piece of music while making the track. However, over two decades later, this classic is still relevant, especially with Guy J's hands on it.

SOMA 20 YEARS [1991 2011] 
 

The fifth EP from Somas 20th Anniversary series provides three incredibly different reworks of the classic Funk DVoid track, Diabla. To date Diabla is one of Somas biggest tracks. Back in 2001 it was caned by everyone from Laurent Garnier to Dave Clarke to Pete Tong, and was the archetypal closing track in so many DJ sets. Whatever the case, it is a true representation of Techno from the turn of the century, and an undeniable classic. At the time it was reworked by The Hacker, Samuel L Session, Kevin Saunderson, Octave One, and of course, a certain Heavenly rework by the man himself. In 2011 we revisit Diabla with Christian Smith and Wehbba, Metrik and Joash who provide 3 very different, but equally brilliant remixes. 

Appearing on labels such as Drumcode, Bedrock, Sci+Tec and Renaissance resulted in Christian Smith having exceptional success in 2010/2011, while Wehbba has been following suit, working with the like of Tronic and 100% Pure. Following the immense hype over their last collaboration, Laurent Garniers Flashback, they come together again to remix Diabla. 

Next Viper Recordings&#8217; Metrik steps up to rework Diabla. Ten years on, Metrik amps up the tempo, trading in the 4/4 for one of his trademark punchy breakbeats. A razor-sharp, LFOd bass-line and intricate drum programming combine to create this Drum and Bass monster.

Joash, who has just released his debut album on Compost Records, takes influence from his deep passion for Electronic and Classical music. These influences shine through on his Diabla rework where he produces a powerful orchestral masterpiece. He proves his out-standing musical talent, incorporating several cross rhythm sections to transform Diabla and merge music boundaries.

We all love to get lost in the music but with Josh Butler's return to Rejected, hes about to bring a whole new level to the concept

'Hydra' was written on Lost Beach, an Ecuadorian idyllic resort based around the cult TV show Lost where Josh found himself stranded as he waited for his US Visa to process (We say stranded More like getting lost in the after hours of Kami's infamous Lost Beach club cave where Josh regularly plays extended sets). The poignancy wasnt lost on Josh who would religiously watch the series during the early 2000s, so he soaked up the inspirations and named the track after the show's water station. Just like the show, theres a natural sense of unknown coded deep into every element. It also takes us back to Joshs earliest influences as a producer as subtle shades of trance can be found in the sweeping synths and barbed but hopeful melodic twists. Inviting us to get lost inside Josh's own musical make-up just as much as the track. 

'Never Leave' plays the consummate foil; much more direct and driving, there are touches of progression and techno in the momentum while Emilie Marie breathes her requests over the ever developing juggernaut rolling groove. Not only the perfect track to accompany a homage to a tropical paradise but if you 'Never Leave' you can't ever be lost, right?
