Born in Te Tai Tokerau but brought up in mainland China, Dylan Biscuit (@fiddybag) has found sounds that influence him from all spectrums of his surroundings.
Living in Tamaki Makaurau for the last 5 years, Dylan has been heavily involved with the underground scene through labels such as The Grow Room and Heat Rockers Records. During this time Dylan has seen people connect with all different genres of music through very different mediums, these experiences are translated through his sets where he blends all of this collective knowledge and deliver’s dancers with a familiar feeling translated through a new sound.

AM: Heyo! What have you been up to recently? 

Hey! Mostly been working on music, recording mixes and spending time with family.

AM: We loved your EP for All Centre this year so much! Could you tell us a bit about the inspiration for it and the set up for it? 

Thank you - Super kind of you! For the EP, I didn’t really set out with a particular thing in mind. I guess late nights watching movies is the common thread - Rudnick was inspired by and named after a villain from the movie, Heavy Metal (1981) and Earthly Pleasures was inspired by the movie, Hellraiser (1987). Jet Black was me trying to make a song that sounded like falling into void and enjoying every minute of it. LOL. Setup wise, Love to All Centre who reached out to me and asked if I’d be down to do an EP for the label after featuring on their 2nd Anniversary compilation. Enjoyed working with them the first time so it made sense to do it again.


AM: The mix is wicked! Where and how did you record the mix & was there an idea or theme behind it?

Thanks and I’m glad you like it. The mix was recorded in my apartment in Lusaka (the capital city of Zambia). I recorded the mix using my old Numark controller and Serato. The idea behind it was to still do something focused on rhythm and the club but a warped/broken version of that.


AM: What have ay been listening to & digging recently?

Strict Face - Pulsers (EP), Money Lang - Trevino Mare Mixtape, Míchell Cuartas - Delicate & Strong (EP), the recent Don Toliver album and lots of The Time (I’m a huge fan of the Minneapolis Sound).


AM: Whats next for ya?

Got more mixes coming and I’m currently working on demos for a couple of labels so hopefully you’ll be hearing from me a bit from me in the New Year. Keeping my fingers crossed for a couple of shows as well.

@yazzus-1 is part of 6 Figure Gang – the rising London club crew which comprises herself, LCY, Dobby, Fauzia, Sherelle and Jossy Mitsu – and for whom the term “doing bits” can be liberally applied. Each member, though, has their own thing going on. As a DJ, Yazzus is all about high-energy selections, ’90s hardcore rave, jungle and footwork, which she tessellates with her own blistering bootlegs made especially for the club. She recently dropped a bunch of these in time for Bandcamp’s most recent fee-waiving day, featuring Britney, Kelela and even Hadouken! as a nostalgic throwback to the glowstick-fuelled days of nu-rave. Her last outing proper was via EP on Mad Decent back in March, ‘Delta Wave’, which nodded to that passion for the rave, while she also contributed to R&Ss’ recent ‘In Order To Care’ NHS charity compilation as well as femme culture’s ‘HeForShe’ compilation with the wild ‘GOT TO HAVE UR LUV’. “A typical Yazzus mix is a real rollercoaster of different vibes, perfect for listening at pre’s, afters, playing sudoku,” she says. “I’ve been listening to nothing but straight fire this lockdown, so I’m spreading THE V I B E ZzZz!!!! Expect a journey from ghettotech to footwork to ravey city to lovely ethereal jungle. Big shouts out to Trax Haven, Childsplay and We Rob Rave for the new releases and loads of new ones from me including ‘Impulse’ taken off ‘Delta Wave’, ‘Wonky Raver’ from the ‘In Order To Care’ compilation and some high-end bootlegs from my latest Bandcamp pack!”
