Tonight A.B.N. hosts @alex___egan , a multi-disciplinary veteran of electronic music in London.

Today celebrates the 10 year anniversary of Egan’s label Utter (@u-t-t-e-r), known for unconventional projects such as the upcoming 'Phantom Seance Ballet' release which features “an unusually tangible manifestation of live performances and installations that incorporate sound, video, costume, still imagery and beyond” from Lena Wilikiens and Sarah Szczesny .

Alex currently works behind the scenes at visionary label Ninjatune and as Label Manager of Phonica records. In the past he DJ’d as one half of Skull Juice and produced under a number of aliases including The Draughtsman and Astronomer. His current musical focus is Lost Continent, a chill-out/ambient/fx project alongside long-time collaborator Benedict Bull.

Paul is one of the most highly respected electronic music producers on the planet, best known for Orbital – the band started with his brother back in 1987.
Orbital have created some of the most memorable moments in dance music with an array of classic records over the years including Chime, Belfast and Halcyon On + On - becoming one of the only electronic music bands alongside The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy to make it onto the main stages of major festivals. Including a game changing performance on the NME stage at Glastonbury in 1994, which has been listed as one of the 10 top sets of all time played at the famous festival. Paul even performed ‘Where is it Going’ with Professor Steven Hawking at the opening ceremony of the London Para Olympic games. 
Paul has also pursued a solo path during times away from the band - making music with artists including Robert Smith from The Cure and Vince Clarke from Depeche Mode, Yazoo and Erasure. He’s also an absolute gentleman and a scholar…

"A gig is so much more than that one hour onstage performing - it's loading the van, travelling, setting up, soundcheck, getting ready, waiting for the show, the show, the post-show, selling merch, packing down, loading out and travelling to the hotel - each show day is like 4 days in one! From Venue To Van charts some of this emotional pre-and post-show cartography.

The first part reflects the kind of mixtape I always put on in the venue, filling the room with my murky post-punk and beat-driven favourites, LoneLady-fying the space…creating atmosphere and building anticipation. By showtime, we are jittery with adrenaline as we step onstage.

Some time later, fuelled by post-show buzz, gin, white wine, fatigue and a touch of hysteria, the second part of the mix takes an awry turn as the van turns into a mini post-show afterparty on wheels in which we tumble and laugh, playing tunes through a Bluetooth speaker. The mix winds down as we are lulled into half-sleep by the repetitive motorway thrum, until finally, as the fog creeps in, we stumble into the utilitarian but loving embrace of a Travelodge." - @lonelady
