For the second instalment of our live mix series we have American producer and selector, providing an hour from a party in Minneapolis, Minnesota - where he is currently based. 

Lately, Lonefront has been working on developing alternative tuning systems and new approaches to programming sound. This mix contains fragments of these experiments, with deep driving bass and hypotonic rhythms effortlessly intertwined.

Born in Suburban Chicagoland and raised in Northwest Wisconsin, Steve Seuling (a.k.a. Centrific) anchored himself in Minneapolis since 1993. In a mostly-hidden, yet vibrantly evolving underground scene, Seuling started attending, curating, and DJing events in the mid-1990s. Underscoring his commitment for the Twin Cities’ massive bass bins, Seuling then in March of 1998 founded “Intellephunk”, his brand of parties that began at the now-shuttered Rockler Fur Building, drawing inspiration from those of his contemporaries (Woody McBride’s “Electric Disko”, Drop Bass Network’s Even Furthur). Centrific throws a weekly summer party called “Communion”, founded in 2007 alongside fellow Midwest native Dustin Zahn. Communion is an inclusive open-air day party, focusing on the psychedelic side of house and techno. In 2020, Centrific created an online Twitch stream entitled “Distant Future”, a platform where he invites local and international DJs to showcase their music and chat about their ideas for the future of the rave scene, and most recently he is co-founder of midwest based techno campout “The Great Beyond” alongside partners Jasmine Seuling, and Dustin Zahn. His dedication to preserving and protecting the local roots of the dance music community shows that, in many ways, he’s the lifeblood of Midwest techno.

RND 072 - Centrific

Rebecca Goldberg is a producer, live performer, DJ and graphic designer from Detroit. Since her debut EP release, 313 Acid Queen, she has been affiliated with the multidisciplinary arts collective, Detroit Underground. Rebecca is a seasoned radio DJ having mixed for FM and internet-radio shows hosted across the globe.

Goldberg has self-released music and multimedia projects ranging from Detroit techno to experimental/avant-garde electronic music. She tours internationally as a DJ and live performer and has been featured at notable events from Movement Electronic Music Festival to Tresor in Berlin. Unconfined by genre, Rebecca has written original scores for classic films, “Le Voyage Dans La Lune” and “Gojira,” which included live performances at Silencio, David Lynch’s members-only club in Paris, and Armageddon Beachparty in Detroit.

In 2022 the New BBC Radiophonic Workshop released a selection of field recordings she took throughout her native Michigan for their Travel Agency project. For her live performance she focuses on sound design and the unpredictable capabilities of working with electronic instruments. In early 2023 she produced a live show called Upphljómun to showcase live performances from herself and Icelandic electronic artists during the Reykjavik Winter Lights Festival. Her most recent EP on Detroit Underground, TROIS CENT TROIS, was featured on Bandcamp’s “New and Notable” releases and is available to order worldwide. Blank Code Podcast 224 - Rebeccca Goldberg

Originally from Georgia, Irakli’s early descent into the German capital has seen him corner and develop a side of the local scene and turn it into something of an international fare. 
Ten years ago he created STAUB, one of Berlin’s most celebrated techno parties. As a part of the production duo I/Y, he has been releasing music under the synonymous co-founded label. But most of all, Irakli’s craft behind the decks has been weighed upon by the likeliest of Berlin’s underground venues, with his vision of electronic music taken further afield in Europe, and the Americas. In 2017 he founded the Intergalactic Research Institute for Sound with artists like Stanislav Tolkachev, Natalie Beridze, Rezo Glonti and many others. 2021 Irakli released debut album „Major Signals“ on Dial Records.

Adding orchestral collaborations and sound installations to a field of work outside of the club, Irakli’s expanding platforms and industrious connection to Berlin has seen his entry point into the scene now serve as an outlet into the more abstract, experimental realms of techno. With new endeavors afoot and a creative repertoire to boot, Irakli’s DJ sets, labels and parties always display unique qualities. It does not matter whether he is exploring beatless soundscapes or high energy music, Irakli always manages to create something special.

DJ Hockey approaches techno by intermingling layers of contrasting elements. 
Defining characteristics for his selections are thick, encompassing atmospheres and moods on the introspective side. These sounds are often paired with nods to the Midwest wrapped in a single session, crafting a journey through spacious and full beats.  A consistent overarching theme of DJ Hockey’s style in selecting and producing is having a driving pace and heavy hit of psychedelia. 
DJ Hockey started PPRZ records with Adam 2 with the intention to showcase techno from the PNW and beyond with a cheeky nod to queer culture in underground dance music.

DJ Hockey - Tech Clubbers Podcast #289

Key Clef is a Berlin based, italian dj and producer with strong passion for analogue instruments, founder of the label Ipnotica Erotica. After experiencing the last years of the flourishing rave scene in Rome and accomplishing a degree in sound engineering her creative process evolved into different directions from club music, to performance art and electro acoustics. In 2013 she released her first digital EP followed by releases on Love Blast, KKY, MinimalRome, BlackWater, DelirioRec, Mitten and Undersound Rec. In her own world music is a continuous dialogue between styles and hybridization. Her music productions as well her live performances include synth, drum machines and analogue effects reflecting her ethereal trajectory while her dj sets show the full prism of her music taste and knowledge of the dance floor. Key Clef sound doesn’t hit the surface but instead aims to channel emotions and contact between her music and the audience.

During the pandemic she founded ACXS, a community of artists with a common profit through the production and sale of sample packs created using instruments provided by partnerships with professional audio equipment brands. The roster of this project includes artists such as Alessandro Adriani, Silent Servant, Neel, The Lady machine, Marco Shuttle, Iren Amnes and many more. Key clef not only wants to bring its music to the public but also wants to give its commitment to the environment by creating projects that can be useful to a network of artists.

IGNIS FERALIS, the second chapter in a four-part cycle, evokes the elements of a cursed and decaying world — a planet collapsing under its own corruption, where the future flickers uncertainly and the abyss draws closer.

Here, fire becomes sound incarnate: a percussion of flames striking against silence, each spark a relentless beat. It swells like a melody unraveling in distortion, crackling as it spreads. Its heat is a low vibration that shudders through bone, its dance a hypnotic sequence of minor tones, merciless and entrancing. At its heart, the blaze is a mechanical rhythm of devastation, primal yet precise, consuming everything in its pulse.
