With 27+ years of making people dance in numerous countries along with years of vinyl shop experience and music promotion, his role in the industry is unique and influential. He also DJs as Wrecked, a music first queer dance party which recently turned 11.

Ron Like Hell - Guest DJ Mix on Expansions on KEXP 3-20-22

I recorded this mix in the beginning of March leading up to Daylight Savings Time. I always feel giddy around that time, when the sun begins to stay up later and sleep in the next morning. Time somehow feels more spacious, and that energy breaths new life into dormant creative practices.

DJing has been difficult for me to hold on to through the pandemic. My motivation to play music has felt so distant, and it’s taken me a long while to feel creatively reinvigorated. Finding the courage to finally record myself again was a challenge that I think was worth overcoming.

While the recording is one take, the mix itself first took place while freestyling tracks, that is wandering through songs to familiarize myself with my collection. For the first time in a long while, each selection I made felt coherent and intentional, and that “DJ’s intuition” that seemed lost was here again.

By the time I finished, I thought I’d been playing for about an hour, but I realized it had been just over two. I saved the tracks in my history as a playlist, and vowed to do it again. This is that second play-through.

This mix is far from perfection, which is a goal I’m learning to let go of. I found it has a much more important quality: playing through it felt good. Really, really good. I hope that same feeling reaches you as you travel through the sounds presented in this work.

Two years ago Indianapolis' beloved Duck Trash (@ducktrash) gave us all a hefty dose of Chemical X (#136). For this month's installation on Refuge Worldwide, they're bringing their genre-spanning sound for a very electric journey through house, techno and electro 📡🌐🌼

Indianapolis-based artist Duck Trash is a queer techno & electro selector who believes in the healing powers of the dancefloor. They illustrate the full range of human emotion in each otherworldly heavy dance mix. They are passionate about the queer roots of rave culture and strive to ensure that raves remain a space of queer liberation.

Club Drippy is the amorphous moniker of Jonathon Freund, Chicago native and co-founder of electronic powerhouse Pixel Grip. Taking inspiration from sweaty raves, the ocean, and queer joy, Club Drippy absorbs and reflects his experiences through producing, DJing, and writing.
As resident DJ and promoter of DiSCOTHEQUE, Drippy presents his record collection with elements of synthpop, industrial, new beat, and italo for an eclectic dance floor experience.
In addition to his work with Pixel Grip and Duke Davenport, Drippy released his ambient-techno debut EP ‘Made of Silk’ in December 2020.

Q. How long have you been a part of the NYC music scene?
A. Around six years. It all started when I met Justin Strauss at my first job at Red Bull Studios. I became friends with him and he would add me to the guest list for some of his parties in Brooklyn. After that, I started meeting more cute people in the Brooklyn music scene and took the chance of playing music myself + doing a lot of Bossa happy hours.

A. This is a hypnotic cyber spa with a misty twist.
