Here is my set from the peak hours of the 9th annual Seasons Advance in Victoria, BC. A beautiful night of deep music, I followed after Beatfarmer, and was tasked with getting the dancefloor up and moving hard for one final push. I really enjoyed putting this set together, fusing a lot of older techno/trance sounds that I used to play with the newer deep/tech house sound that I love.

Another year, another Die Hard

Die Hard is an annual beach party that has happened on Dallas Rd. every February for the last 7-8 years now, in celebration of a phenomenal human being named Kit. I've had the pleasure of playing a morning set at most of them, and it is consistently one of my favorite gigs of the year. This year, Compass Rose and I shared the stage... Enjoy!

Psycho Disco! '18 (Compilation mixed by Treasure Fingers)

Eritrean-American DJ, producer an all-around creative Eden Hagos brings visibility to those future sounds that you can’t quite put your genre finger on. Deeply rooted in underground hip-hop, sample-based, percussion-heavy tunes, and future bass, Eden’s ear for unique sounds has kept her digging since her uncle gave her her first Fugees album at age 16.

Eden has dropped over 20 mix-tapes - the third installation, "Currently", caught the attention of OkayPlayer deeming the young beatstress "a prophet of future sounds". The beat scene and local producers started listening and partnerships with artists, labels, and connectors in the community became plentiful.

Miss Hagos’ love for creative culture has led to opportunities to perform at underground clubs, international festivals, and celebrity and fashion events alike. She has opened for Snakehips, Anderson. Paak, Jmsn, Syd tha Kid, Tokimonsta, Sango, and Goldlink to name a few.

Eden is poised to bring light to the beat makers in this movement while uncovering and educating folks along the way of all of the genres that exist within these future sounds.

About Betsayda Machado & Parranda el Clavo (Venezuela)
Betsayda Machado is a Venezuelan singer born in El Clavo, Barlovento, a community with a rich Afro Venezuelan tradition. Barlovento’s inhabitants today are descendants of African workers who once toiled in the cocoa fields, and exploited by land owners in the area. Nicknamed ‘The Black Voice of Barlovento’ Betsayda has been recognized since the age of seven as the most promising voice in the area by local leaders, and has become the carrier of a long tradition of nearly-extinguished genres of black music in Venezuela. Betsayda moved to Caracas in her early twenties, for the last few years has been acknowledged as an icon of Afro Venezuelan music, receiving attention from the media and others She has shared stages with Oscar de León, César Miguel Rondón, La Vida Boheme, Vasallos de Venezuela and many others.

La Parranda El Clavo is the local percussion and voice ensemble of El Clavo, a small town in Barlovento, Venezuela. Approximate population: 1500. For nearly thirty years they have been playing together for town festivities, funerals, new year celebrations and get-togethers as a way of sharing culture and community with their family, friends and neighbours. Singer Betsayda Machado started her career singing with them in the late 1980’s.

La Parranda El Clavo got the attention of director and producer Juan Souki during a field trip to El Clavo alongside Betsayda Machado. Since then Souki and Machado have paired up to organize together the first parranda tour in thirty years and the recording of a series of albums on Barlovento’s musical traditions. Their tour ‘Raíces’ traces the parranda member’s origins and will take them on a discovery trip to Africa.

About this edit :
I was captured by "Selalu", when I first heard it, and instantly fell in love with it. Although the music comes from a part of the world where I have never been, I feel very close to it. The sound of the duo Tarawangsawelas from Bandung / Indonesia, performing mainly a modern and contemporary version of Tarawangsa, the sacred music from Sundanese West Java, slows me down and calms me, but also transports some kind of melancholy and gravity. So my intention was to keep this spirit and give it a slight dancy touch. @barbarella_dd

About Barbarella :
Barbarella is a DJ and producer from Dresden / Germany. As music has always been an important part of her life, she was testing and collecting different styles, before she finally found her home in deep, melodic and bassy sounds from all over the globe, somewhere between tradition and modernity. The major influence on her musical creation emerges from the spanish-speaking parts of the world, with a special dedication and love for Cumbia, as you can hear in her sets and productions. Barbarella is also a member of the duo "Pauken & Trompeten", organizing parties in her hometown and hosting a podcast series.
