i started writing this song in january 2021. i was placed away from home on a medical school rotation in the heat of the third uk lockdown and my mental health had sank. i didn't know anyone i was staying with and with what i was dealing with at the time i couldn't find it in me to try and befriend them, which isn't usual of me due to the fact i love talking.

i was in a sticky situation with the people around me. there was drama everywhere and always uncertainty over who was going to stay and what was going to happen. everything became incredibly difficult and it took all the willpower i had to keep myself doing even basic things like getting up in the morning and showering. i was stuck with people who took me for granted yet expected me to go to every extent possible for them.

i would always reminisce about the earlier years of starting university. i started in 2018, one of the nicest years of my life. i missed the idea of having a new change to look forward to, and how i felt safe and surrounded by people i know i could confide in, and hence this song was written.

i approached one of my best friends, who goes by the name khepri. i really liked how they sang in other songs and wanted for them to put their spin on mine. i'm very proud and lucky to be able to call them my friend. you should support them on their commissions and art:
