Mazi Namvar, more widely known by his pseudonym Audio Soul Project, is a notable figure in the house music genre, with a career rooted in the dynamic cultural landscape of Chicago. Since embarking on his musical journey in 1994, Namvar has made significant contributions to the world of electronic music, both as a producer and as a DJ.

His work, encompassing a vast array of original compositions and remixes, reflects a deep engagement with the genre. As a producer, Namvar has demonstrated a nuanced understanding of house music, evident in his albums “Community” (2002) and “Hip Shake Heartache” (2011). These works, released under his Audio Soul Project moniker, reveal his adeptness in blending elements of deep house, disco, and more experimental sounds. His approach to music production emphasizes live performance, inventive synthesis, the use of analog equipment, creative sampling, and sophisticated drum programming, culminating in a sound that is both authentic and resonant.

Beyond the studio, Namvar’s influence extends to the dance floor, where he has captivated audiences worldwide with his DJ sets. Over three decades, he has performed at prestigious venues across the globe, showcasing his enduring passion for and mastery of the art of mixing.

Namvar’s role as a mentor and advocate within the Chicago music community is also noteworthy. Through his leadership in record labels such as Fresh Meat Records, Gourmet Recordings, and Afterhours, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the musical landscape and supporting emerging talent.

In recent years, Namvar’s artistic evolution has continued with new releases on his Fresh Meat label, including EPs like “Simurgh” and “Beginner’s Mind.” His latest tracks, such as “My Desire” and “Love Forward,” stay true to the core principles of garage and house music, underscoring his commitment to the genre’s roots.

Namvar, or Audio Soul Project, is not simply a musician but a steward of house music’s rich tradition and an inspiration to both his contemporaries and aspiring artists. His career is a testament to the enduring power and creativity inherent in the music that he represents.

Any blurb about Colin Dale's career is bound to exclude many seminal moments, such is the extent of his achievements in almost four decades behind the decks. In 1982, Dale started warming up for Tim Westwood in central London clubs like Heaven. He cut his teeth playing soul, funk and boogie in clubs and on pirate radio station Phase One, until landing a slot on Kiss FM in 1986. Over the next 16 years, Dale became London's answer to The Wizard, with his Abstrakt Dance show (and related Outer Limits mix CDs) introducing a whole generation to the cutting-edge sounds of Detroit, Chicago and beyond.

Dale is a visionary DJ, one of the first to explore the links between funk, boogie and proto-house, then going through phases of industrial techno, Detroit techno, acid and the softer tech house sound he spins today. Aside from his DJing, Dale is a fixture of UK dance music, as a former dancer, promoter of legendary parties like Knowledge, artist manager and label owner. As a producer and remixer, his credits range from an early record on Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto label, to the EPs he continues to drop on Abstrakt Dance Records today. He doesn't rest on the success of his hallowed days, continuing his presence on the London club circuit and tirelessly pushing his sound into the future.

Berlin's Cinthie has grown to become one of the most revered and respected figures in contemporary electronic music in recent years both in her hometown and across the globe. Her touring schedule regularly sees her playing her inimitable DJ style in hotspot cities like Paris, London, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Stockholm, Seoul, Osaka, and of course her beloved hometown Berlin .

Djing in said city since the early nineties as a teenager Cinthie's depth of knowledge radiantly shines through in her sets and her productions, which traverse through a broad range of classic and contemporary House and Techno sounds. Recent times have seen Cinthie look inwards towards her aspirations for the future, and as a result, dedicated a huge portion of her time to building her own studio, featuring a wide spectrum of some of the most noteworthy vintage drum machines and synthesizers in existence.

Initially Cinthie made her mark with Diego Krause, Ed Herbst and stevn.aint.leavn as the Beste Modus / Beste Freunde collective, amongst running Unison Wax and We_R House on top of the main labels. Most recently she launched her 803 Crystalgrooves imprint to critical acclaim, a platform which has become a huge focus for her own productions for the foreseeable future as well as the imprint's sub-label Collective Cuts, which as the name suggests, welcomes music from affiliates and friends of the artist. On top of this there’s a burgeoning relationship with Will Saul's Aus imprint where her debut album comes in 2020. Cinthie’s unfaltering drive and dedication to all things House continues into another decade...

Matthew ‘Bushwacka’ B, a percussionist in the London School Symphony Orchestra who was converted into a member of the infamous Rat Pack after a warehouse party in ’88, has been DJing for over 30 years now. From that first Acid House experience Matthew quickly started playing all over London, holding residencies at four of the most famous clubs in town by the time he was 18 years old. From London the gigs spread countrywide, doing up to 8 shows a weekend, and then into Europe and the USA by 1992.
 
It was via a mutual friend Mr C that Layo & Bushwacka! first met, whilst Matthew was working at his studio, and by the mid 90s the two had started writing music together. Over a decade later, the partnership has yielded three artist albums, three mix albums, internationally renowned club residencies and a superb record label. 

By 1999 they’d already composed their debut album, ‘Low Life’, released on End Recordings, the label spawned by The End. The album announced the arrival of the duo as a force in electronic music, with a record that brought together electro, house and breakbeat fused with blues, dub and downtempo, all underpinned and informed by their collective experience of underground culture. This inclusive and open minded approach to sound became the blueprint for their future work.

Their sophomore album followed in 2002, this time released on the mighty XL Recordings. Entitled ‘Night Works’, the record featured their unforgettable top ten hit ‘Love Story’, and took their sound onto a bigger and broader canvas, charting all over the in the process. The accompanying live show brought further acclaim with stunning shows from Homelands to Sonar, whilst their famous DJ sets had now garnered residencies at some of the world’s finest clubs including Space in Ibiza, Warung in Brasil and of course The End in London. While this explosion was happening, Matthew was also achieving huge solo success with his remixes for Depeche Mode, his bootleg of Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean, and getting phone calls from Madonna wanting him to work on her music. It was a crazy time. 

Their End residency, known as All Night Long, became one of the capital’s most revered nights with Layo & Bushwacka! taking the club through an edifying tour-de-force of electronic music.
 
When The End closed its doors for the last time in 2009, Layo and Bushwacka! started the Shake It brand and threw amazing warehouse parties all over London, booking Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Magda, Laurent Garnier and many other friends, and created dancefloor destruction for 4 years. The parties were legendary, the energy incredible.


Layo & Bushwacka!’s reputation as two of the world’s foremost DJ duos is rock solid. Four artist albums have proven them remarkably talented producers, capable of mixing styles, tempos and genres to create enduring and engaging electronic music. Their trio of mix albums and international club residencies have shown they are masters of the turntables, sonic connoisseurs who can guide a dance floor on an epic journey through the many facets of their sound. Their label Olmeto meanwhile has become a bastion for quality, a label that, much like its figureheads, has become a rubber stamped seal of class, and many of their vinyl only releases have become sought after rarities.
 
In 2013 Bushwacka! took some time out to focus on his solo Just Be project, recording on Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical and Intec, while Layo created a new empire in Soho, of world class restaurants, applying his magic touch to everything he does. Five years later, Bushwacka! started touring and recording again under his original name, only on select shows and keeping it special for the fans, old and new.
