This song was written by Ken and a dearly departed friend and former bandmate named Chris Bennett about the latter's divorce that he was going through at the time when their band was also breaking up. Ken had a good demo of the two of them fleshing it out, which the Eclectic Collective used as a template for the song. Josh was first to add his unique slide bass line to the song. Next up was Tez, who added the fiery solo you hear at the end. Stephen came in not too long after with the rhythm guitar, complete with the intricate fills you hear throughout. Around the same time, Mark added some really innovative, genre-bending horns and shakers to it. Ken then completed the song with his stellar vocals. 
  Of course, every great song needs a great producer, so Ken turned it over to Stephen for an objective mix, although Ken was still heavily involved in the process, too. This is the first time Ken has sung lead for an EC song, and we were all very impressed with his skills on this one. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.

As a very experienced and qualified practitioner, my brother Bri’s widow Sue has always been a believer in the homeopathic approach to life.  A vegan since her late teens, she truly walks the talk and has never been afraid to stand tall against the herd, no matter that this can often bring her into conflict with the mainstream.  Admittedly, I do not follow either of these creeds but it does have to be said that my own opinions aren’t exactly conventional either, so am a huge admirer of her courage to speak up for the things she considers right.  It takes strength and resolution to stand your ground when all around seem to be against you - and stand her ground she does. 

Sue is a true supporter of our music.  Always interested in what we are doing, her positive feedback is something that means a great deal to us.  Recently, she asked to listen to some of our more recent songs and was particularly taken with ‘My Atheist Angels’, since it deals with issues that are very close to my heart.  As we chatted, she surprised me by asking if I’d ever consider writing a song that represented her feelings and life choices, something I’d never been asked before.  

For me, the writing process is never straightforward because songs most often appear completely out of the ether.  I hardly ever make straightforward choices about them, allowing grains to sprout of their own accord whilst I’m just sitting around strumming my guitar.  Occasionally, those initial seeds take years to grow into a shape that pleases me, let alone one that may please someone else.  

So in answer to her question, I didn’t say yes but then again I didn’t say no, feeling that the only way forward was to gather some thoughts about her and hope that somewhere along the line, these would bring into existence a tune that pleased the  both of us.  As luck would have it, everything dropped into place much more quickly than I’d imagined and here is the song I created for her.  As I write, she doesn’t even have the faintest idea it even exists, so we will have to wait and see whether it is everything she hoped it would be.  Let’s hope so…. (Terry Reeves)

Life rarely moves in straight lines—and neither does the music. Three Photons returns with "Contours and Detours", a winding, analog-rich meditation on movement, misdirection, and the beauty of the unexpected.

Contours and Detours is my take on Gershwin's Rhythm changes with my own harmonic substitutions throughout. Written in B-flat Major with a Key change in the bridge.

This was unavoidable for me.  Politics aside, I think we can all agree that the mounting innocent victims of global conflict are a tragedy beyond measure.  These casualties should not be ignored as we sit in the comforts of our cushy little lives.

It is our Swedish National Day today - we are a peace-loving folk and hope that every war will take an end!
