This song began by Steve writing it on his acoustic guitar, singing it, and passing the recording on to Josh to share with the rest of the Eclectic Collective. Tez was first to add his complimentary guitar in his typical expert fashion. Ken then added his very tasteful drums. Soon after. Josh worked his bass part until it was dialed in. After the Rhythm section was solid, JJ came along and sprinkled his organ magic throughout. Then, for good measure, Josh added some lap steel, too.
  Of course, every great song needs a great producer, and Tez was the man for the job on this one. Steve is a fantastic singer and songwriter. We all feel very lucky that he so generously shares his talent and work with us. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making it.

The Eclectic Collective — composition and mix

  This is the second song in a row that The Eclectic Collective is releasing in as many weeks that was written by Chris. We love working on his songs, and all jumped at the chance to play with this one, as well. He wrote it on an acoustic guitar, onto which he also put some heavy reverb, giving it an ethereal, chordal sound. To that bare bones, Josh fist added his four-string fretless bass to a click track, of all things. Luckily, Ken swooped in soon after and gave it a proper beat with his lively percussion performance. 
  Once the rhythm section was complete, Tez added his melodic, golden-tone guiar in there. Then, it was JJ's turn. He added not only the piano and synth, but wrote the lyrics and sang it, as well. 
  This song was actually mixed by the group, as we all added our parts, although Ken did some final adjustments, too.
  JJ's lyrics tell the story of the first people to reach Easter Island, millenia ago. The wonder of the journey and the discovery of a new home, while using the materials available to survive. Here are his original lyrics.

     This is my new Christmas song for the year. It has a double meaning for me and that's why I call it "The Last Christmas"! Charlie did a good job singing it and I joined him in spots! I wrote it during the hot summer this year, so go figure!!😂 I used up all the tracks I had available to record it (I'm old school, give me a break!) and I had tons of fun recording all the parts too! The song at the end during the credits is another Christmas song I wrote back in 2001 called "Have A Very Merry Christmas" with Sharri singing and Charlie and me doing background vocals. Check both out I have a video each one! This video was super fun to create, I spent a lot of time and effort on it, the sleigh ride with Santa is especially cool! I added a lot of eye-candy and special audio effect here and there. This video is for the whole family so feel free to share it with loved ones and watch it together.

Now for the secret double meaning of this song!! It's a sad tale, so prepare yourselves! Back when I was in high school, back in ancient times, there was a very pretty girl in our English class named Chrissy, she was very nice and sweet, I sat next to her and she was very smart and let us dumb guys cheat off of her papers sometimes!😂 Anyway for almost the whole year I never realized that her real name was Christmas, we all called her Chrissy. There was something very sad about Chrissy, I didn't know what it was but the next year Chrissy never returned to school? Later, I found out she had leukemia, I think? She never returned to school after that and some of the kids told me she had sadly passed away however I'm not sure about that but I never did she her again. So this song is for her and after all these years she popped back in my brain?! So let's all enjoy Christmas this year with family and friends because you never know when it will be your Last Christmas! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all and Happy New Year!! 🙏😎✌🏼🎅🧑🏻‍🎄🤶🌟💫☃️🎁🎈🪅🎊❤️💝
