Originally set up in 1994 by Tilla Kemal (T-Mirage), Odysee was one of the first imprints to explore a deeper sound that fused Atmospheric Jungle with Techno elements and 70’s Jazz Funk & Film-Noire. Alongside other similar labels of the era such as Fabio’s Creative Source, Bukem’s Good Looking and with DJ support from Kemistry & Storm, Peshay, Fabio & even Goldie, Odysee was an important contributor to what was referred to as the ‘Intelligent’ movement of the mid 90’s. With early releases form iconic artists Source Direct, Mirage and the mighty Photek the label quickly earned a reputation for the quality and versatility of its releases. 
The label stopped releasing towards the end of the 90’s, but was relaunched by Tilla and Andy Odysee in 2015. Alongside a series of choice remasters & remixes from the original back catalogue, there is now a steady stream of new material being released including the Iliads series, and E.P.’s from Andy Odysee, T-Mirage and Invincible & D’Zine. Odysee has also attracted some heavyweights for remix duties including Gremlinz & Jesta, Fanu, Homemade Weapons and forthcoming reworks from ASC & Mister Shifter among others. 
With a focus on breaks heavy D&B and Jungle, the trademark sound of the label, its attention to detail on depth of production, the fusion of Jungle & D&B with Techno, avant-guarde & Film Noire soundscapes still likes at the heart of each release.

Deep Medi, Chestplate, Tectonic, Get darker and Origin Audio is a release catalogue that few can Dubstep producers can boast. Tunnidge has been producing and releasing Dubstep from the fledgling days of the scene. His first introduction to the scene was via the support of DMZ member and Dubstep pioneer Mala who championed his music on his acclaimed label Deep Medi. Later he was quickly adopted to Distances Chestplate camp being the first ever artist apart from Distance himself to release on this ever-growing label.

Monstrous releases such as Geddeon, 7Breaths, Dark Skies, Control and the remix of Truths Puppet Master have affirmed his ability to create heavy weight dance floor smashers in juxtaposition to the more deeper experimental tracks such as Tribe, Decay and Universal which was released by the legendary Tectonic imprint.

As well as the music production and DJing Tunnidge also keeps himself busy with the portrait designs of the Deep Medi label. With exhibitions of his work appearing in London, Greece and New York, his distinct artwork style has become synonymous with the brand of the Deep Medi label.

As a DJ Tunnidge hits hard, selecting the dark dance floor style music he is known for producing. Headlining all over the world and frequent visits to the U.S his accolades include playing the top events, festivals and Radio shows of the Dubstep world, DMZ, Deep Medi, Fabric, Outlook Festival, Get Darker events, FWD, Gritsy, SubMission, Oi!, Get Darker TV, Kiss FM, Rinse FM and now along with the other Chestplae family a bi monthly slot on BBC Radio 1xtras Mista Jams Dubstep show.

Armed with a cache of heavy weight Dubs, forthcoming releases on the biggest Dubstep labels and bookings for the biggest events, the future looks bright for Tunnidge

I used to go by the name Yungun.  Back in what some call the “golden age” of UK Hip-Hop I dropped a couple of albums -  "The Essance" (2004) and "Grown Man Business" (2006, a joint effort with my long-time collaborator DJ Mr Thing). I had a lot of fun, worked with some of the best hip-hop artists in the UK and got the nod of approval from people like Nas and Mark Ronson.  I even ended up doing a track with Guru from Gang Starr (R.I.P.).  Then I took a bit of time off from music to qualify as a lawyer (I specialise in media and entertainment industry law).

Now I’m back under the name “Essa”. My latest album 'Misadventures of a Middle Man' was released in May 2014 on First Word Records. I’m currently working on new material  and am looking for collaborators ...

Prolific drummer Richard Spaven releases his first full length LP, following on from the acclaimed ‘Spaven’s 5ive EP’. This latest record ‘Whole Other*’ showcases the drumming artistry many of us associate with Spaven, combined with his own productions in the realm somewhere between Jazz, Electronica and Soundtracks.

Spaven has supplied the drums for many artists on stage and in the studio - José James, Flying Lotus, The Cinematic Orchestra, Guru’s Jazzmatazz, Gregory Porter to name but a few. Working closely with such a diverse range of artists must bare influence upon Spaven’s own compositions, in which some how the drums bridge the gap between the worlds of jazz and electronic music.

Spaven’s debut release ‘5ive’s EP’ (Jazz Refreshed) in 2010 quietly turned heads. Most recently it featured on best selling video game ‘Grand Theft Auto V’. With a guest appearance by José James on the hypnotic ‘Maz’, the record was seen by some as a jazz record but was also played out loud by many club DJ’s.

‘Whole Other*’ continues the journey. The music is rich and genre defying. Blue Note Trumpeter Takuya Kuroda appears on the record, playing soulfully amongst ragga tinged drums. GTA V collaborators ‘The Hics’ join Spaven on the albums title track ‘Whole Other*’. UK sounds to the fore – James Blake-esque moody vocals meeting Spaven’s edgy broken drums head on. Guitarist Stuart McCallum’s (The Cinematic Orchestra) signature sound is prominent – Spaven has been working with him since their meeting on stage with Cinematic a few years ago and he features throughout the record.
