Ancestral language

Always loved hearing Buddy Holly sing this song and loved the movement in the chord progression. The song was written by Boudleaux and Felice Bryant and suited Buddy perfectly. I tried to capture feeling I get from Buddy's version.

This song started out as a bit of a throwaway but then took on a life of its own. A big shout-out to Troy who did a great job on the trumpet, despite only playing the instrument for a year or so.

I wrote this song with Gary Reeves in mind. Through memory and belief in his Brother Brian's wonderful songs, he brought so many to listen and love the music that had been. And, also the amazing music Brian would inspire. Gary and Terry would carry the torch, and through many amazing collaborations with other artists and a committed association with the incredible Hans-Michael Albers, so much fantastic music has been created! I will forever be grateful for these wonderful artists. The Reeves Brothers and Hans have moved on to face the many challenges that life often imposes.  I will so greatly miss them.

Recorded live with my bandmates back in 2018. This one was just for a bit of fun, but it turned out ok! I love the original song but how we came up with this Police-inspired version I don't remember!

I'm a songwriter, guitarist and singer in that order. I play some bass, keys and drums too. I have been writing and recording songs for most of my life and what you hear on my profile is a selection of my work over the years. 

My songs are a mix of autobiographical and storytelling. I write about family, life and happenings in the wider world.
