That voice doesn’t sing, it commands. The weight of it, deep, rich, unflinching, gives the whole piece this operatic gravity that feels like it could echo through stone walls. You don’t need to understand the language to feel what it’s doing. It’s performance as presence. Every note sits heavy, but never dull. And the piano? Beautifully played. Not just accompaniment, but conversation. Every note lands with care, rising and falling like it’s breathing beneath the voice. 🎙️ The microwave whispered, “That wasn’t just a vocal, it was a vibration through time” 🔪 The grater growled, “That voice could cut through marble, and I wouldn’t stop it” 🌬️ The ice dispenser blinked slow and said, “Cool and ancient, like something carved into the wind.” Absolutely magnetic delivery, you feel the story even without understanding a word.

Wow. I will certainly be back here. Deeply delightful. Deeply. And I do love that Maurice (and Claude, too!). How they straddled musicl epochs and cultural worlds, opening doors they could not imagine (and might not have wanted to!).

Arrived at this immediately after listening to 'Bad Liar' and think it merely reinforces the comment about the amazing breadth of your work.  Can only echo Jonathan's "Wow"...

Very remiss of me not to mention Helen's gorgeous piano...many apologies, Helen!

Helen's playing and your singing are so symbiotic.  Every note is lovely, even this little clash of Ravelian tonality in the piano part.  Your voice is powerful, and as Krissie mentioned might just cut through marble, after cutting through some thick skulls;)

This song began its life as a skeleton of beats and synth created by Terry, who also added some crunchy electric guitar hits to it, too. Terry is a very skilled electronic music producer, and frequent collaborator with Stephen for a project they call Texas Tea. It's worth going to check out their other collabs, as well as Terry's solo projects on his and Stephen's page. 
  Even though Terry and Stephen work together frequently, Terry approached Josh with a couple of ideas, and Josh picked this one, so Terry started the project and invited the rest of the band to join in.
 Stephen was the lead off hitter for this one, though, adding his magical and heavily processed acoustic guitar to the bridge in the middle, as well as textural guitar in the entire first half. He also added a couple of cool lines with his e-bow, which he used on his guitar. Ken was next up to bat, adding his always thrilling drums to compliment Terry's beats. Josh went to work next, now that he had a solid beat to work with, added his low-frequency five string fretless bass to it. Tez batted clean up, adding his thrillling Gilmore-esque guitar solo to the end of it. 
  Then, once the music was all finished, we turned it over to Chris so he could add his amazing, psychedelic vocals delivering his original lyrics throughout.
  Once we had everything recorded, we turned it over to Terry to mix, as it was his song to begin with. Terry is an excellent producer with a great ear. Stephen, who is our trained mixer gave him some key advice along the way, too, though.
  This is Eclectic Collective's third song with Terry, and we're always thrilled when he has something to offer us. He's a wonderful collaborator with tons of great songs on his page, that are all worth checking out. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed creating it.
  Oh, and it's worth mentioning that three of us on this have birthdays this week, too. Chris' was first, on Wednesday, Terry's was Thursday, and Josh's is Friday (today). So, this is an extra special celebratory song for all three of us. We're all so very grateful for our SoundCloud community, friends, and musical family. We appreciate all of you!

Koala Tea (Eclectic Collective with Tea R. Sea)

Well hello… A new song, with a new instrument. A pawnshop Ukulele. Ha. What a fun instrument to play. Just had to. A few simple Uke chords, some acoustic guitar soloing, and a tale of sailing the ocean as a metaphor for life. And yes, lyrically I was talking with a seagull. And just so you know I have gotten really good at ‘talking’ with birds. I can click talk like a grackle, whisper whistle like a robin, whistle talk a curious melody like a chickadee, among others. Still working on my duck call. Ha… Years ago, I remember annoying some people at a party with this wooden duck call my buddy had. So maybe a future song about birds? And right outside my door there are some interesting avian dynamics between the grackles and robins nesting in the spruce trees. They argue every day, about territory and invasion of their personal space, but when danger appears, like a hawk or cat, they come together in unison to fend off the threat. In the natural biology of things, humans haven’t fallen too far from that spruce tree. Anyway, robins do not like the dark. They anxiously chatter with loud worry chirping amongst themselves at dusk, and create a chorus melody of happy song at dawn. With me being a late sleeper, their morning serenades can be quite bothersome at 4:30AM. A lesson for me though, as at times I am not so welcoming as I wakeup to another frenetic global morning. Anyway, birds and their enthusiastic singing far outpaces my own. Ha. There are many other birds here, but I will save that for another time. Hope you are well. Thanks for dropping by, Mark

Uke Chantey

A friend of mine has a severely autistic son who is now in his early 20's. He can't speak and has the mind of someone around three years old- but that is determined by the way we think.  Who knows how complex his thinking really is.  His name is Lorenzo. He loves to do puzzles and listen to music. 

One afternoon as I was laying the piano track for this music,  my son was talking to the mother on speaker phone and Lorenzo could hear me playing the piano.  He stopped doing his puzzle to listen.  That is how he connects. He loves music. When I heard that I knew I needed to finish this music for him. I haven't seen this friend for a very long time but she is coming to visit in a few weeks and I will be meeting Lorenzo for the first time. I wonder,  will he recognize the music?
