What's this song about? String Theory is the notion that all time exists on a string—a string that never disappears. I'm a fan of the podcast/television show Closer to Truth, an American production hosted by a neuroscientist. The host interviews the leading experts on many scientific and philosophical subjects. In a recent podcast, scientists discussed String Theory, which became the inspiration for this song. 

One scientist explained that if you imagine a string along which all time exists—past, present and future—then you can understand that right now both the future and past still exist on that string. So, in theory, the past never disappears and the future is waiting to happen. He likened it to a DVD of a movie. At any point you can rewind or move forward. He suggests that this may be possible with time. 

What I drew from this notion is that all that has happened in my life, all the people I have known—in particular those who are no longer here—are, according to this theory, still existing on the string. Is this a comfort? I think it is for me. 

This is why in the refrain I sing, " I will always be with you." Even when I no longer exist, I will exist along the string, a string that connects me to a past before my own existence began and to a future that I will never see. 

Perhaps you will draw something different from this song and from the theory. In any case, I hope you enjoy the musicianship on this recording. Georg and I worked hard to produce parts and solos that we're proud of.

Hello - Thank you so very much for visiting my soundcloud page and for all of the love (likes, comments, plays, messages etc). I am deeply grateful and humbled.

I write, produce, play piano/keys, sing, and am currently in rehearsal mode so I can perform live.  I also have a day job so there is that as well...

I love it all: the recording, the playing live, the listening, writing out charts, practicing, recording, listening to the greats, and constantly searching my soul for my truth in music.  I don't use or plan to use AI for anything; if I get left behind, so be it!

I like to cycle tracks in and out here on soundcloud to keep things simple but to hear my complete album, check me out on bandcamp. The best anyone can do for us artists is to buy our music if you really like it.  (Okay that's my bit on sales-pitchy-self-promotion.)

Roger Whittlesey is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter from the Boston area. He often composes and records pop music with intricate harmonies and deceptively sophisticated chord changes. Many songs spring from his 60s, 70s and 80s influences, but his music is original and unique. Whittlesey often collaborates with instrumentalists and singers from the world of jazz, folk, and pop to create a hybrid form.

I'm a baritone sax player & composer in a contemporary jazz genre from Cologne, Germany (and play clarinet and flute, and the other saxes as well). All woodwind parts on these tracks are played by me (multitrack rec.), all other instruments by virtousi virtuali (with three or four exceptions). All arrangements and by far most compositions are by me.

I've been making music since 1972. At the time, with Pedro Castro, we created the alternative rock band Petrus Castrus.

We are both amateur musicians, i.e. music lovers. As for me, I'm just an electrical engineer with a master in AI that really loves creating music and use it to share ideas. That is why all tracks include lyrics or texts.

By the way I'm not interested in third-party offers to boost the number of plays. I like it as it is, and I've always declined such offers. Thanks anyway. 

I don't repost much, just some tracks that I find outstanding and with very few plays, so I can help them to get better known. I believe that repost parsimony also makes life easier for those who follow me.

Best described as eclectic, my style is a soothing mix mirroring my personality: mostly mellow with the occasional outburst. Although I have a background in classical piano I have always loved to create and improvise.  Since early childhood I have been trying to duplicate on the piano what I hear in my head.  Now I see how formal studies and improvisation fit together perfectly. I hope to always keep growing and learning, reflecting the beauty of Christ in all my endeavors.
