Working in Isolation_COVID-19 tracks

These are three selections using a tape-loop technique I performed in 1980 In Atlanta's Central City Park on a modified Oberheim TVS synthesizer. The technique was developed by Terry Riley and Pauline Oliveros and used on Robert Fripp and Brian Eno's first three albums together. This recording is exactly what I recorded live, with no added effects, dynamics, or post-production.

A flight of fancy with a couple of sounds from the new Spitfire Audio Oliver Patrice Weder - The Pool Project, a sample library using sounds created by Oliver for his album, "The Pool Project". The strings are from Spitfire's Originals Intimate Strings.

"Cloudbank" was inspired by a photo I took of clouds (with a barely noticeable rainbow) over the homes behind us. I used Spitfire Audio LABs sounds.

Cloudbank

OBSO is an inspiring catalog of sounds coaxed directly from various forms of obsolete media and extant technology. Our dreamlike but intuitive interface is intended to spark instant emotion. Specifically designed to sound good no matter where the knobs are, the five visceral control circles nevertheless offer a huge depth of range within a single patch. Nostalgic synths, creamy pads, lush basses, shimmering bells, burnished brass, scintillating strings, and more glow with the patina of fine age. Individual sounds sink into a mix like they always existed, but you'll find they can easily stand alone without the need for layering or manipulation outside of the instrument. From film and game scoring to lush pop records, these tactile soundscapes add a dose of warm nostalgia to nearly any production.

Created in memory of Roberta Vaughan, a tune of light and hope composed and produced by Robert Holmes, featuring performances by Roger Hooper on piano and George Napier on ambient synthesis.

Midnight Is Calling Me

A reflection of our time "social distancing", living in isolation because of the coronavirus pandemic. The piano is from the Casio PX-560M stage piano. I edited the tone to give it a more "muted" sound.

Isolated...Not Alone

"Afterthought" was composed using sounds only from the #CasioMusicGear PX-560M Stage Piano. The PX-560M has a hex layer synthesizer section that allows the programming of complex sounds using up to 6 tones, or oscillators, with their own envelopes, filters, etc. "Not your father's Casio"!

Afterthought

Our state (Maryland) just had restrictions lifted somewhat, but the county I live in is still in lockdown. We're all in this together!
