Ancient Future Now reaches the jinxed number 013 and welcomes Matt Bruce aka Vanity Project to their circles for necessary celebratory exercitations. Matt is also known for flooding the subcultures with tasteful housey explorations via his own label Claptrap, and tasteful housey explorations he does bring here indeed. Juicy poly synths, thick piano chord loops, rubbery 303s, phat claps - you name it, it’s all in there! But don’t be fooled by these attributes, which basically constitute any given classic house track - this is not some arbitrary ordinary sleep house. It’s delicately arranged, on point and very… Vanity Project! And yes, of course, it’s groovy like hell! We thought that goes without saying.

The EP is rounded off by two very different and very fun remixes by bestie armada RSS Disco and Conga Fever. The former pull all the stops of their beloved summer festival DJ sets and create a disco house beast, that sounds like a love-child of LCD Soundsystem and Prins Thomas. The latter invites us to a supremely tasteful downtempo dub house excursion, including melting organ chords, acoustic drum grooves and dreamy guitar melodies.

JC, es un reconocido videocreador y dj de las Rias Baixas. Comenzo a pinchar hace diez años en el Bolboreta Club, local da ciudad de Pontevedra en el que se mantuvo varios anos como dj de referencia. Desde entonces ha pinchado en diversos locales, como el Underground en O Grove, Blend en A Coruña ou o Real 10 en Pontevedra. Ademas, ha participado en eventos como el Boa Vila Pride (fiesta organizada por el Concello de Pontevedra para celebrar o Día do Orgullo Gay), o Zero Rock o el ya célebre After Party del festival Cultura Quente en Caldas. A lo largo de este tiempo JC supo adaptar sus sesiones a nuevos horarios, ofreciendo sesiones vermú o sesiones de tarde en diversas ciudades. Su trabajo non es una cuestión de estilo, si no una cuestión de sensaciones, e viene definido por la luminosidad, e un aura agradable que invita al movemiento. 

JC traslada su pasión por música a su labor como director creativo y realizador de el Espejo Mágico Producciones, una empresa dedicada principalmente al eje audiovisual, donde la música que acompaña a las imágenes es parte fundamental y referencial de su trabajo.

BIO:
Beyond The Struttopshere is a sonic collaboration between two DJs channelling their considerable musical production experience and boundless love of cosmic chugging dark disco. Their debut EP ‘New Frontier’ was released on Discolypso Recordings in 2020 and found much acclaim among Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnston’s A Love From Outer Space online fraternity, also appearing on Juan Mclean’s (DFA Records) contribution to Tim Sweeney’s Beats In Space mix series. This propelled the duo to new heights, leading to highly lauded releases on esteemed labels such as Mélopée Records, Astrolead Recordings, Discolypso, In Dark We Trust, Emerald & Doreen and X-PRESSINGS, and DJ gigs at Glastonbury’s Rabbit Hole, Secret Garden Party, Noisily Festival and Berlin’s infamous KitKat Club among many others. Beyond The Struttosphere’s music is now making sonic reverberations around the globe, hitting the dancefloors of Burning Man, House of Yes NYC, ADE, Fusion Festival, Sisyphos Berlin, and notching up remixes from notable legends of the scene including Shubostar, Rebolledo, Rigopolar, Tegel Boys, Vongold, Badknife, James Rod, Julian Sanza, Roliva, K-Effect and Mufti. The cosmonauts are frequently immersed in the studio, with live guitar now a mainstay of their productions. Their trademark sound combines fat chugging basslines with reverbed guitar riffs, syncopated arpeggiators, cosmic synths, vintage vocal samples, Italo drum fills and psychedelic 303 sequences.
