The idea of robots taking over the planet was in the past a Sci Fi movie driven concept – think terminator. 
Fast Forward 25 years and we are on the cusp of robotic automation taking over, in fact AI / machine learning / automated society and super smart robots are closer than you and I might think.  
It is crazy what is happening with technology. I don’t want to be the voice of doom and gloom but what was Sci Fi so many years ago is in fact reality now. 
This record is a bit of fun with a serious back story. 
I’m not expecting terminator style robots to come crashing through my door any time soon , but the reality of our technology is that the capability is there…

What and who is A Darker Wave?
We are a duo (jacki-e & p-mac) who present A Darker Wave every week only on NLive Radio, Circl8 Radio, Echo Radio & Chill Lover Radio. We put the show together in our home studio. The show is streamed worldwide on the internet. Each show is posted on our Soundcloud, Mixcloud, Hearthis.at, Podbean and You Tube pages once it has been streamed and presents the best in new techno releases.
We also play gigs as A Darker Wave and we have played at events in Germany and all over the UK.
The music we play is techno, tech house, deep house and anything else we like enough to include in the show.
Each show is 2 hours long. In the first hour we go into the mix with our featured EP of the week and the best of the new releases.
In the second hour we invite new and upcoming DJs to come onto the show and do a guest mix.

Why are you called A Darker Wave?
Dark Wave was first used in the 1980s to describe a dark and melancholy variant of new wave and post-punk music and was first applied to UK musicians such as Bauhaus, Joy Division, Sisters of Mercy, Cocteau Twins, The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Depeche Mode and Anne Clark. It was also used to describe artists who combined music with performance art, such as Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire, who challenged and explored the darker and obsessive sides of the human condition.

A lot of techno takes its spirit and ethos from this music, Listen to Throbbing Gristle or Cabaret Voltaire and you can hear the industrial sounds which are a staple of techno music today.

Techno is the outsider of electronic dance music, the punk of today's modern music scene. As Dave Clarke said in an interview with Mixmag, " Techno is edgy. Techno will challenge you......it's the real dark art."

Our radio show, in presenting the best in underground techno and deep house music, and in giving an opportunity for new, up and coming DJ's and producers, is providing an outlet for new techno, which is best described as being the new wave of modern dance music.

Not just a new wave, but with it's incessant bass rumblings, synthesiser drones, pounding drums, melodic top notes and eerie, distorted vocal samples, techno, in all its forms, is a backdrop to and a critique of our post-industrial, consumerist society, one in which our actions are observed 24/7, our democratic freedoms are threatened by our very own governments and our rights to do, think and act as we please are under ever increasing scrutiny. Techno really is A Darker Wave.

When we were listening to music in the 60’s and 70’s, before the electronic tentacles of technology infiltrated the world, we often thought, whilst listening to the likes of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Frank Zappa, Hawkwind, Captain Beefhart, New York Dolls and Roxy Music, where would music go to in the future? It could never be what was being portrayed in the science fiction movies of the time. Now we know. It can be anything. When we have a recording studio in our own home which is more powerful and versatile than anything available back then, we now know music can be anything and go anywhere. It is only the spark of our imaginations, or lack of it, that holds us back. On our laptop computers we have the capabilities that many artists back then would have given their right arms for. It’s for the uniqueness of the artist to express themselves to be able to stand out from the deluge of music available. Finding those gems is the modern day equivalent of crate digging and when you do, it makes it all worthwhile. Long live music!!!!

DJ Bio 🌍🎧

Born in 1960, I’ve been chasing the pulse of electronic music for decades. My journey began at 15 with the mind-expanding world of psychedelic rock, evolved into the energy of early ’90s house raves, and found its true home in the late ’90s psy-trance movement – a passion that never let go.

From 1997 to 2008, I played and danced across Northern Germany’s underground, from intimate clubs to open-air gatherings, appearing at Free Form, Darklight, Mushroom Magazine events, Café Nuclear, Little Tibet, and beyond.

After a fearless but ill-fated dive into event promotion in 2000, I took a long creative pause – only to return in 2022 with renewed fire. Today, my sets fuse house, techno, deep tech, and indie dance into progressive, hypnotic journeys designed to captivate dance floors without a way back.

Regularly releasing fresh mixes on SoundCloud and curating global sounds for 94,000+ followers via my “Trip_Space_Collector” network, I continue to explore the deep connection between rhythm, emotion, and the collective high of the dance floor.

From the psychedelic roots to the modern club circuit – I’m here for the long run, and the trip is far from over.

At the end of the day all I really want to do is make records. 

So ( and this will make many dance music producers cringe) I took the basics stuck mostly to samples and started making records - with the aim of finishing music that is dance floor ready, easy to mix, identifiable to the listener and  simple to digest.

House Cat… Equal parts man, musician, and beer, all summing up to equal one pretty average (but very enthusiastic) artist. 
	
Active on the scene since 2017, Mr Cats personal taste in music is largely centred around a mish-mash of all things house, disco, breaks, and rave (if you're looking for consistency, here isn't a good place to start), so when seeing him in his natural environment, expect to hear a plethora of 909 drums, funky bass-lines, and as his Dad would say… “repetitive music that should’ve stayed buried in the last century”. 
	
Over the course of these very interesting and sometimes (oftentimes) hazy years, the cat has some how managed to claw his way into some of Australia's largest venues and festivals, such as Beyond the Valley, Falls Festival, and Revolver Upstairs.
	
Not just a pretty face, House Cat is also a pretty good producer! Forging his way into the House scene by utilising his 10+ years of experience playing guitar, bass, and drums to create his signature blend of mediocrity and Ableton. Despite this, somehow his music has caught the eye of labels such as HOUZ, Baikonur recordings, and Rave Residence, in addition to garnering support from some of dance musics biggest artists (DJ snake, Ritchie Hawtin, Shiba San, and Format:B spring to mind).   

Minimal skill, maximum passion, Never forget others, Always forget your headphones. These are the words that drive the Cat.
