This week's assignment was to think of two words in any single language of your choosing that mean “quiet.” For example, in English you might choose from “quiet,” “silence,” “hush,” and “tranquil,” among others. I chose two Scottish Gaelic words for quiet: sàmhchair (which can also mean peacefulness or tranquility) and sàmhach (which can also mean dormant).

We were then asked to think of the "nuanced differences" of the word, and then render this into music.

"Invierno has (as the title may already suggest) two topics or themes it is mainly influenced by:
The country of Spain and the season of winter. It was recorded in the winter of 2021/22, and
the Spanish influence is founded mainly on the listening-experience of Rodrigo's Concerto de
Aranjuez. I tried to transform the melancholic summer-atmosphere of this beautiful work into
the winter season by using some tiny fragments, granulating them and communicating with
them via my modular synth. The tracks developed in a constant flow.
The Rags of Winter are two pieces created right afterwards in the same atmosphere with the
use of the modular again and a Ciat Lonbarde Sidrax as a second instrument.
I am glad that this album, which is quite dear to me, found a home on the beautiful Rohs
label, and would like to thank Andrea Porcu many times for his care about it."
