Gano is a producer, DJ, and live performer whose sound moves fluidly between hypnotic minimal tech house and richly textured, organic grooves—often featuring live percussion, melodic instrumentation, and cross-cultural influences. With over two decades in the scene, he’s held residencies across the globe, from San Francisco to Koh Pha-ngan to Victoria, B.C.

Known for crafting unique sonic journeys with every set, Gano’s performances have graced festivals across North America, from Soundwave to Burning Man. In B.C., he's built a loyal following through high-energy club nights and immersive outdoor experiences with the Left Coast Crew and the Jellyfish Lounge.

At Burning Man, he co-created the TreeHouse: a 30-foot mobile rave unit with a rooftop DJ booth and dancefloor. His crew won hearts across the playa with their distinct, soul-warming blend of house music.

He’s shared the stage with luminaries including Bonobo, Rob Garza, Deep Dish, Kenny Glasgow, Deadbeat, Junkie XL, Vandalism, and Terry Francis.

He's had the opportunity to share stages and support acts such as SKIITOUR, Lazy Syrup Orchstra, Moontricks, Mat the Alien, Mt Doyle, Dunks, Father Funk, WBBL, RUMPUS, Leland River,  and many other of the westcoasts finest.

Recently performing his third vinyl 45 set at Shambhala's legendary Fractal Forest stage for the Sunday afternoon Funk Jam, hosted by the Smalltown DJ's. 

His sets are genre bending and he's notorious for blending in his own unique style.

Always keeping the ear guessing and the dance floor moving hes been gaining notoriety playing gigs all over Vancouver island and beyond.

Originally from Ontario, TheFunkySlab has been calling Calgary his home since 2010. From a very early age, his older brother introduced him to a wide range of music genres that has influenced him greatly. Everything from funk, soul, motown and hip-hop to classic rock, punk, reggae and 90s electronic music. Coming from a family of musicians, he began his musical journey at a young age playing piano but found his true passion playing the bass. This led him to play in several different bands, performing live shows and recording a few EP's along the way in his early adult life. He attended his first music festival in 2012 which sparked his interest to one day start DJing. Since then, he has been an avid festival goer with a heavy involvement in the Calgary electronic music scene. In 2018, he took the plunge and finally got behind the decks and started playing at house parties or wherever the opportunity presented itself. With the guidance and mentorship of his good friends Freddy J, Marc Thomas, Magic&Johnson, Lucy Lynx and We Are Robots, this self taught DJ is eager to fill the dance floor with his charismatic personality and musical talents.
