Today, it was a bit more difficult with the Volca Sample. I spent a lot of time re-organizing my samples and figuring out how to perform, which led to this.

Sketches: Floating Landscape

Today I wanted to do something a bit more energetic. After yesterday's attempt, I realized that I need to do something to make the mixing of the parts more dynamic, so I put together a control template in TouchOSC which allows me to mix levels and the lowpass filters of the different parts of the Volca Sample without having to switch back and forth between them all the time.

This time, a more melodic one. Synths are coming from a Novation Mininova, the beats are from the Volca Sample, and everything is processed through massive amounts of Valhalla reverbs and delays.

If you would get a prompt which asks you to create some music with the theme "Swamp", what would you do? I ended up with this. This time, purely with software (Studio One, Massive, Valhalla effects).

It took me a while to figure out how I would like "Desert" to sound like. In the end, a bunch of software synths helped me to get into a mood for some meditative improvisation which I cleaned up a bit afterwards.

Sketches: Desert

Today's keyword was "Silence".

Now I don't know how you would approach this, we walked around my hometown Vác, and could not find a lot of silence. Found a lot else though :D

Also: it was quite fun to walk around with my M-Audio Uber Mic, and record with that, using my phone on the other end of it. It looked ridiculous.

Note that the recordings were taken on a Saturday, around 5-6 PM.

...I really don't know what this is. Yeah, it has probably nothing to do with drum'n'bass but whatever? :D Today's prompt was about "an alternative reality", and I had absolutely no clue what to do with it, so I took a deep breath and...

Set the tempo on the Volca Sample to 172 BPM.

Sketches: An Alternative Reality

Today's topic, "Cavern", came much easier and naturally for me than yesterday's one. I had an easy, good time coming up with this. There was a quite surprising part in it, when I realized that what I had in mind is actually 3/4, not 4/4 as mostly everything I've been doing so far :D

Yet another practice session with the Model:Samples. This time, trying to work with some more melodic stuff. I also practiced how to control external gear with it; one of the sounds is coming from the Mininova, which is also controlled by the Model:Samples.

Sketches: A Magical World

Continuing the "daily" sketches series, but now, trying out how it would sound like if I would have 2 days / track. This allows me to work out a few more details and work on the structure, but also, it lets me to more easily forget about myself and keep finetuning things for way too long. Anyway, so far so good :)This is yet again made with the Model:Samples, and I'm starting to utilize around 80% of the device I think.
