In the last few weeks of October 2022 Scrimshire wrote a new collection of songs with the descriptive working title "Scream". A direct response to the absurdity of the breakdown in the UK government, the horror of the treatment of refugees arriving on our shores and the callous disregard for the trauma being caused to anyone considered "other" - class, skin colour or otherwise. Self-preserving conservative MPs fought for their jobs, record profits were announced by energy companies, while gouging crippling amounts of money from people's pockets, the sense of living in a dystopian fantasy was frequently overwhelming.

Originally named “Scream 8”, Unity Gain was one of the early outpourings from those sessions. Piano and drums bubble up until it fully boils over with huge stabbing synthesiser and string sounds in an outburst of frenetic energy. One of Scrimshire's most powerful deliveries to date.

Unity Gain follows, 2022s Music for Autumn Lovers and the much loved 2021 album Nothing Feels Like Everything.

King of casual mid-tempo house, András Fox puts his stamp on Yumi Zouma's recent single, "Catastrophe". Keeping it close to home in Melbourne, András' dubby remix takes its cue from Australian punk funk bands of the '80s.  

"Catastrophe" is taken from Yumi Zouma's EP II, which launched last month. Check out their upcoming tour dates in New Zealand and the U.S. below.

(A lil' back story: We decided to make this mix after a weekend crate digging odyssey straight from the vinyl gods! at local Bay Area record store, Amoeba! In the store, we came across several records with a handwritten label of the song title, and bpm on the cover. Pretty shortly we realized these were all records from a DJ's personal collection, and couldn't believe all the gems hidden in the crates. We dubbed this mystery DJ "Vinyl Angel,"... so we thank you Vinyl Angel for these gifts and passing down the torch. Peace.)
