The laboratory of BGM (background music) is now “opened” in 2016 by Yuri Miyauchi and sphontik, after years of co-writing/co-producing music and performing live and BGM together.

BGM LAB. is a music laboratory of BGM (background music).  With a well-balanced use of analog and digital technologies, we are exploring “ Music as backgrounds ” that is the best fit for the living environment today.

Uplifting music and music that is producing a different vibe in a space is important. However, we doubt that the music we love listening to is always good background music for everyday life. In BGM LAB., we place music behind your everyday life so that we try to help making your everyday life more fulfilling by creating environments (musical, tonal, and sonic) where you can reflect on yourself or you can be true to yourself.

Miyauchi Yuri / 宮内 優里

Composer/Musician. Born in 1983. Based in Chiba, Japan. He made his CD debut with Rallye Label in 2006. He has released seven albums. The latest work is "Instruments 3" (2025). He specializes in organic electronic music that interweaves instrumental performance and programming.​ His live performances include improvised multi-recordings. In recent years, he has been performing mainly in the form of background music at various places such as bookstores, museums, and libraries throughout Japan.​ In addition to his own activities, he has composed music for films such as “Misaki no Mayoiga" (Director: Shinya Kawatsura, CV: Mana Ashida, etc., Original Story: Sachiko Kashiwaba), "Little Forest" (Director: Junichi Mori, Cast: Ai Hashimoto, etc., Original Story: Daisuke Igarashi), as well as for NHK E-television's "Aokiiro" ,"Q - Philosophy for Children," as well as for TV programs, dramas, commercials, and BGM for stores.​ He is also active in the music project "BGM LAB." with KENJI KIHARA.​
