Morph#23 HORNS - Healing The Elusive

The clouds parted slowly to reveal the hazy blue expanse of sky in the distance beyond - it was what they had all been waiting for as they gathered on the shore. Looking out into the distance as the waves rolled in against the pier it was hard to wonder what might be any better than this. The breeze blew softly and the smell of a grill burnt hot in the distance. Was this paradise? It certainly seemed that way.

He'd never imagined that he might find euphoria here, out here in the middle of nowhere surrounded by strangers whom might one day become friends. It was hard to imagine a life without them now for they too had lived through the cloudy fog to see the sun rise at the beginning of a new morning. They were all in this together.

Wolf Music are back with a new split EP featuring friends and family, this track by Manuel Darquart captures the 'euphoria' of the late ineties Italian house era. These were simpler times, with happy go lucky music and a cocktail on ice to go alongside. This one has us feeling all kinds of summer.

Diving deeper into the wave pool, next up on Terrorhythm is Deadcrow with a four track E.P. of sounds drawing influence from instrumental grime and the emerging wave scene which has been championed by Terrorhythm head honcho Plastician on his Rinse FM shows of the past few years.

Listeners of the show will certainly recognise WiFi, IDK, Krai and Last Kiss. All of which embodying the ethereal traits becoming trademarks of the wave sound, with the punch of instrumental grime apparent in the drum work particularly, the tracks on the release vary in tempo from 120 bpm to 140 bpm but Deadcrow's full and complete production style never wanders short of engrossing you within the songs, leaving you short of breath at any pace.

We expect this one to really make waves (excuse the pun)!

Frits Wentink's next release on his own Bobby Donny label finds him editing some tracks he has been playing on his radio show for a while. They are originally by Vertiqua, a German lo-fi hip hop producer that remains unknown.
The vinyl only record is limited to 500 copies.
All four of these tracks have been edited to make them more suited to the dance floor. The a side comes as an edit that is all about woozy chords and loose, bumpy drums with a rapped vocal stitched deep into the arrangement. It's warm and intake for cosy dance floors.The B1 has organic boom bap drums and kicks, more tape delayed chords and a nice analogue feel all finished with a wordless but beautifully soul-infused vocal.
Last of all, the louche drums of on B2 are coated in vinyl crackle and laced up with more intoxicating and imperfect chords.
This is a perfectly aged combination of hip hop and house that will get any floor bouncing. Limited 12 Inch hand numbered vinyl.

As the old saying goes, "good things come in threes." This phrase is certainly true when it comes to Beats Of No Nation's running compilation series Dance Ideas, which is set to come out with its 3rd release on May 25th later this week. For those that do not know, BONN is a collective of Aussie musicians that turned a taste-making radio show into an all-out record label earlier this year. As you can tell by the artwork, these lads don't take themselves too seriously and have used this venture as an opportunity share club-ready music from their extended circle of family and friends.

However, it turns out their extended circle includes some of the most promising electronic artists from around the world. For instance, they were able to get Bristol native Scissorwork to contribute to the EP with his brand new original titled Kissing. Having caught our attention ever since coming out with his phenomenal releases I've Seen The Life On This Planet and Homewrecker, Scissorwork further impresses us in his latest outing - showcasing his innate ability to pair dusty, lo-fi melodies with the perfect, and we mean perfect, vocal samples.
