This is the first movement of four in From the Bottom of a Well (Från botten av en brunn) based on Haruki Murakami's novel Kafka on the Shore. The the sounds were designed from, and the music was written from a grounded theory analysis of the book. The piece was performed on the 16th of December 2021 by Robert Ek, clarinet; Kevin Kirs Verstege, cello; and Rikard Vilhelm Lindell, eurorack at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. An indulgently lengthy excerpt, but reflective of taking the time, under a searing morning sun, amidst flies, to sit still and listen to the intimate psychophysical presence of these very curious yet nervously cautious calves, as they approached nearer and nearer. In particular, the sounds of their breath. Wondering about their existence, and their destiny.

How Did We Get Here ?

Kevork Almassian of Syriana Analysis discusses the true story behind the Syrian conflict and the war on Damascus which includes a New Middle East divided along sectarian lines. Despite being welcomed back into the Arab League, Syria remains in a weak position, though there's a good chance Turkey will pull out of the country after elections which should lead to eventual U.S. withdrawal. The balance of power in the Middle East is clearly shifting. American Empire is in its last phase of decline. There is no democracy in the West, if you challenge the system, they throw you in invisible economic jail, you're done. Telling the truth is important, keep speaking out.
