We practice Dharma to be awakened, for enlightenment. But how do we long for something so abstract and un-longeable? Buddhist teachings use human psychology as a stepping stone for the path. In this case, shunyata appears as a shape, colour, 21 forms, etc. Our longing for a mother, sister, protector takes us to Tara; it makes us approach the deity. That longing then becomes a communication link.

Deity is all to do with our perception. It's not like Tara existed before we knew her. How she communicates and functions depends entirely on how we relate to her. According to how wholeheartedly we relate to her, in that same way we will have communication from her.

"The main thing is remembering her — anytime, anywhere, however short, even if it is a few moments, remembering Tara and considering that as a proper practice and being happy with that."

This sutra was initiated by Shakyamuni Buddha, at the end of a retreat in Vaishali. Present were monks, bodhisattvas, ghosts, nagas and rakshas: an audience of many different types of beings. Among them was a bodhisattva called Supreme Joy, who posed 17 questions concerning how a bodhisattva can help all sentient beings. These questions lead us outside the limits of conventional thinking, to consider what it means to have genuine compassion for the multiplicity of sentient beings. This eon is good because more than 1,000 Buddhas and more than 84,000 ways of accessing the truth will appear.

On February 28, 2013, at the invitation of Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche gave a teaching on "Je Tsongkhapa's Instructions" to the students of Rangjung Yeshe Institute in Ka-Ning Shedrub Ling, Kathmandu, Nepal.

Rinpoche taught Je Tsongkhapa's famous text in verse, "The Three Principles of the Path".  He expounded on the three essential features of the path to enlightenment: renunciation, Bodhicitta and wisdom, as well as the relationship between them.

The Mahāsūtra “On Entering the City of Vaiśālī”

Invited to visit the city of Vaiśālī, which has been ravaged by a terrible epidemic, the Buddha instructs Ānanda to stand at the city’s gate and recite a proclamation, a long mantra, and some verses that powerfully evoke spiritual well-being. Ānanda does so, and the epidemic comes to an end. One of the mahāsūtras related to the literature of the Vinaya, this text, like other accounts of the incident, has traditionally been recited during times of personal or collective illness, bereavement, and other difficulties.
