This is a compilation of 5 short sound bites off my new Glide album. Working title 'Assemblage One and Two'. It Will Coming out very soon via 92 Happy Customers. I have been trying to evoke the world of electronic music before the advent of computers. The album is two long tracks of roughly 20 minutes per side. It's an ever evolving soundtrack to your life. GLIDE EDIT

This stripped down version of WTLTTB is similar to how Simon performed this song in solo shows a few years ago and was the first step toward the 'soundtrack' album version (Darkness Falls Upon The Light) of this track.

As you may be aware, Simon York is the vocalist/guitarist and main artrist driving force in the post-punk influenced band Luxury Stranger. Simon has also written some songs and pieces of music which he feels do not fit under the LS banner - hence some solo releases.

'I Hear You Call' is the 1st single from Simon York's album 'Nothing's Ever Quite  What You Thought It Would Be'. The album will be released at first on CD only at his show on the 15th November at Spanky Van Dykes, Nottingham where he will be opening for the legendary March Violets.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Red Right Hand

Hello - I'm Simon York and I'm the singer / guitarist and songwriter / artistic director of the band Luxury Stranger. 

I've been a musician and performer for many years (starting as a singer before moving into classical music as a violinist before moving my focus to rock music and soundtrack / sonic art work), and I've been a working musician since I was 16, signed to a major label when I was 20 but hit the industry at its worst... so I went 'semi-professional'. I also work as a graphic designer. 

I've composed for film / TV and advertising as well as 'pop' music for various band and solo projects over the years. My on-going project is the fore mentioned Luxury Stranger but – being someone who writes music and songs in various styles – some of my work doesn't always fit under the Luxury Stranger banner... and so, every once in a while I put out 'solo' works. 

Sometimes these works result in some live shows, sometimes I prefer to keep things studio based, so's not to distract too much from LS (which is a severely live-based beast!). 

I've released loads of CD only releases under my name and different monikas since the late 90s. After some time away to retrain in some areas and to get Luxury Stranger started (in 2006), I released my first fully instrumental EP (Other Voices) digitally and on CD in 2012. This was followed by the release of my first solo album – Nothing's Ever Quite What You Thought It Would Be - in November 2013. This was a limited CD only release made up of a mix of vocalised songs and instrumentals. The album was well received and I performed several solo shows to help promote this album, opening for acts such as the March Violets and Miles Hunt (Wonder Stuff). Since then I've been completely focussed on Luxury Stranger... 

2021: I released the album "Uh-huh..." exclusively for only three days between 16th to 18th April. This album was a bit of a self-re-education of sorts for me, which I've already talked about so don't need to again... "Uh-Huh..." was very well received and I've had some fantastic feedback too. The album was re-released in 2023 on CD. 

Luxury Stranger is currently working on the new album Above and Below – and back to playing live!!! 

2025: I'm releasing another solo album – More Than Just Movements – as part of my dealing with feelings / thoughts after the sudden loss of my mum at age 66, last August.
