Here are my takeaways from Rule #7: Your Relationship Will be Challenged by Change

1. You and your partner will experience changes throughout the course of your relationship.

2. How you and your partner handle that change will test everything your relationship is made of.

3. The success of your relationship will rest on how you allow change to affect your relationship.

4. Change tests your commitment to one another. When a gap arises between how you imagined life would be and how it actually turns out, your level of commitment will be tested.

5. You need 3 things to handle change successfully: a strong foundation, flexibility, and specific tools to process change.

6. Once change happens, you need to come together to be honest about how the change has impacted you and reassess how the relationship is set up and establish a new norm.

7. Pulling together in crisis is the essence of partnership.

Let me tell you about Rev. Gaylon:

The Reverend Gaylon McDowell is the Executive Minister and Senior Assistant Minister at Christ Universal Temple in Chicago, Illinois. He is the host of the internet radio show "Truth Transforms" on Unity Online Radio -- a program that provides New Thought lessons and insightful interviews to help people live better lives.

Rev. McDowell is an ordained minister, licensed teacher, and board member for the Universal Foundation for Better Living. He has been on the Johnnie Colemon Institute's teaching faculty since 1997. He is also on the faculty of the Johnnie Colemon Theological Seminary in the Teacher Training Program.

Rev. McDowell is known as the "Hardcore Metaphysician" because of his passionate and powerful presentation of New Thought. He presents lessons on New Thought, metaphysical Bible interpretation, goal achievement, leadership and culture shifts at churches, conferences and community centers in the United States of America and beyond. His greatest joy is his daughter Angel, who is a college student.

Rev. Gaylon teaches that "God isn't in you like...coffee is in a cup of coffee. God is in you like wood is in the table. The table is the wood, individualized!"
