The REC series compiles outstanding performances recorded in the club throughout the year, highlighting artists representing our love for electronic music.

Just a month ago, Answer Code Request and Amotik washed Fuse over with a gripping 3 hours back-to-back. And among the countless ephemeral alliances that have animated our Room 01 in recent years, this pairing is hailed as one of the most harmonious and intuitive we’ve ever had.

With a constant, fluid rhythmic approach, Answer Code Request and Amotik combine the best of both worlds. Sometimes hypnotic, straightforward or uplifting, you don’t need more than a few tracks to understand that those two enjoy playing together. It’s a refreshing exploration of techno, departing from standardized formulas. And god, their palpable pleasure is simply contagious.

Since 2007, Berlin native Mike Dehnert has run raw Techno label Fachwerk Records, MD2 and a more house oriented subdivision calling Colomabge. The imprints' mission is simple: to release their own take on raw, floor techno. And so they have done, on 37 different occasions, earning both the label and the artists behind it the respect of in-the-know, serious techno fans the world over. Dehnert’s own productions (often informed by his grubby, dub infused and textured live techno sets at institutions like Berghain and Tresor) have also been unleashed on the world via other respected imprints including Clone Records, Echochord Colour, Deeply Rooted House and Delsin.

Wata Igarashi is a force of nature. His impeccably produced records and hypnotic DJ sets straddle a thoroughly menacing and tense atmosphere with that of deeper, more transcendent moments of utter beauty. He is now undoubtedly one of the most gifted and essential voices in modern techno. Evidenced by our most recent run of Truancy Volumes (Batu, Clarke Price & Peter Van Hoesen) all including tracks from Wata in their mixes, his singular yet versatile sound is being rightly appreciated by a diverse group of artists and audiences across the world. From eyes-closed moments on the majestic mountaintop of Rural Festival in his native Japan, to arms-aloft workouts on the dark and hallowed dance floor of No Way Back Detroit, Wata Igarashi deserves your full attention. His newest release, the Kioku EP is Wata's third outing on New York techno institution The Bunker, and is another record from the producer brimming with range and versatility. Rural is always a special event for me. Playing in the Japanese mountains in front of my friends, it means a lot. Last year I was on the Sunday night, full of stars, in between Function and Alessandro Cortini. With a 3 hour slot, I had the chance to dive deep and do what I wanted. It was a really positive experience for me so I thought it would be nice to share the recording with you all. Thanks for listening and hope to see you on a dancefloor soon, Wata.

Slam (aka Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle) are a tour de force on the global techno circuit. Their unique, six deck, back-to-back DJ performances have seen the duo play leading clubs and festivals across the world. They are renowned for both their experience and their powerful, contemporary sound. 

They are co-owners of Glasgow's Riverside Festival, and also host the legendary Maximum Pressure warehouse parties, which showcase the best emerging local talent alongside some of the most established names in international techno.

Their iconic Soma Records label boasts in excess of 600 releases, hosting Mcmillan and Meikle's own productions and many of today's most cutting-edge techno artists.

The last few years have seen some of the duo's most prolific studio output as they continue to innovate and keep things moving forward, most recently with the release of their experimental full length record Athenæum 101. In addition, Slam have also remixed tracks from the likes of Planetary Assault Systems, Clouds, Dax J, Damon Wild, Richie Hawtin, and Truncate, to name just a few. 

Slam also host one of Techno's most respected weekly podcasts, Slam Radio, which has now surpassed over 400 episodes. The show allows the duo to demonstrate their conviction to creating and promoting music and vibes that provide an antidote to the mainstream by inviting fellow artists from the vibrant Techno scene, from obscure names to current trailblazers.
