Lars Dales & Maarten Smeets are pillars of the dutch electronic scene for almost a decade and have adquired a worldwide reputation through their own awesome imprint Heist Recordings and countless releases on Aus Music, Dirt Crew, Tsuba or Freerange. They also have a new package of remixes for the legendary Salsoul label now !

Having taken their time to go through Salsoul’s vast catalogue, Dam Swindle chose to remix one of the seminal tracks in disco-soul history, First Choice’s 1977 ‘Let No Man Put Asunder’, paying homage to the original and adding “some serious Swindle punch.” The result is a deep, sultry update which showcases the brilliantly uplifting vocals, dreamy bassline and addictive percussion that made the original so loved. Reworks Vol 1 also features Dam Swindle’s remix of another classic, yet lesser known, Salsoul track, Kebekelektrik’s 1977 electro-disco odyssey ‘War Dance’. Dam Swindle chose ‘War Dance’ as it was a side project of cult producer Gino Soccio, who in Dam Swindle’s words “has been so influential in the evolution of disco.” Dam Swindle’s edit enhances the vibrant bursts of synths that sound as though they were from another planet, deployed alongside the hypnotic drumming for an update which was made to fill dancefloors, just as the original did all those years ago.

Last Days Of Summer 2022

From playing his dad’s Hammond B3 organ as a child to experimenting with various instruments into his teenage years, it was only natural that Toronto-native Demuir would centre his life around music. As he focused his sights on the DJ world, Demuir developed an eclectic house sound that exudes funky, sexy, and soulful beats, and is consistently recognized and sought by fellow artists and dance music fans around the world.

The man exudes house from every pour. Here we find him in fine form, hitting it out the park alongside fellow Candian house fiend, Toronto Hustle. Enjoy.

Brixton-based Producer/DJ @theonbower is having a busy year. Between launching his own imprint 'Swung Out Records' to showcase his own brand of dusty house and 80s Italo and playing sets at Glasto, Westival and El Dorado, it looks like next year will be much of the same. Keep an eye out for his upcoming parties under both of his event names; Pangaea Disco and Swung Out. He's also the man managing things behind the scenes at the legendary party institution @secretsundaze. 

"Really enjoyed making this mix. Recorded at my studio in Brixton, it's got a bit of everything in it, mostly dance floor focussed covering house, boogie and of course a healthy serving of retro synth sounds, as well as a premiere of the '08 Breakbeat VIP' of my next single titled The Disguise. Mostly new bits in here but have peppered a few favourites and one of my own edits that all invariably make their way into my live sets too. One of our favourite producers of 2022 steps up with an exclusive 64 minutes of almost entirely unreleased material. Parisian producer @tour-maubourg has released an remarkable body of work in the past couple of years that connects the dots between his city's deep house and nu jazz heritage (e.g. St-Germain, Wuz, Cassius) and the contemporary jazz scene, where sumptuous 4/4 grooves and broken beats are laced with sweet vintage and analog synth solos and motifs. We predict the biggest things for him and are very happy to have him contribute to our long-running series.

*How would you describe your sound?*

I’m trying to produce modern music, mainly house, jazz, and dub related with an old school and warm feel.

*What and who inspires you and influences your sound?* 

If I had to name three main influences it would be Ron Trent and Chez Damier, for their vision and reflection on pushing forward the sound.

Basic channel for their exploration of texture and ambience. Their sound has a unique feel.

Nicolas Jaar for his abilities to touch the masses with non pop music. His ability to make complexity simpler so that anyone can understand his music.

*Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?*

I was very happy that it was only made out of my production. As I have tons of music I stick that will probably not be released, it’s a good way to take it out of my hard drive and give it a second life 🙏
