Jon shared “Monkey Parts” with me while we were discussing an unreleased track we were working on. Jon’s original track instantly inspired me and the lyrics easily flowed onto the paper (actually I write all my lyrics in Apple Notes, lol) and then into GarageBand (using my Apple headphone mic to everyone who mixes my vocals exasperation). I held onto the unmixed track for a while (really for no good reason besides it wasn’t in the stars’ plan until now) and then finally worked up the urge to “git er done.” 

As for the lyrics, the last time I had anything weed related was probably 11 years ago in California. At that time, all things marijuana were relatively easy to acquire since many of my friends had “doctor’s notes” to go to the medical dispensaries. It was fun to try all the new novel dope products people were making and selling. Since living in Oregon, for over 6 years now, I have not once thought about partaking in the herb, even though I can easily walk to several cannabis stores from my home. I think there are more pot stores in the Portland area than convenient stores, I do not live in a reefer desert, lol. But still, I was inspired to write a song about maryjane.

Didn't notice all of the red flags

and your friends bum cigarettes 
from some pimp who's vexed
you've got no interest to get blown. 

Late for work and the boss was mad,
indicatin' that I smelt of somethin'.
She voiced concerns that my eyes were both black
and that my overall look was disgustin'.
After that, she took a step back,
turned and said, 'Forget about punchin'
in today.' Well, hooray, I'm glad.
Still, the bills pile and bend me for fuckin'.

'cause I just don't quite know what to do.
So, I'm singing my song.
Surely it won't be long
until they start charging us for that, too.

rumbustious (with Falsestart)

This is just a short experimental piece recording my acoustic guitar.
I've never been happy with the sound of acoustic guitars plugged in direct. 
I sometimes record my ideas using the internal recorder on my phone, and this is what you're hearing.
I recorded the acoustic guitar on my phone then transferred the file into my DAW and EQ'd etc in my DAW. I'm quite happy with the sound.
The cover picture is my Faith Mercury acoustic guitar that I used.
