A few months after the release of Mawimbi first album "Bubbling", they decided to have some of its tracks remixed by artists who have been dear friends and collaborators of Mawimbi for a long time (Pouvoir Magique, Jo Bissa, Marius & Cesar, Daniel Monaco, Mr. Boom, Afro Pupo).

A mix of genres and influences, these reworks give a new dynamic to our tracks, from downtempo acid house to Nigerian-influenced afrobeats.

The 3rd installment of Razor-N-Tape’s Family Affair series is home for the holidays! Now an annual end-of-year tradition, this year’s FA is a digital comp that sprawls across 13 tracks, representing artists from various corners of the globe and a wide range of musical styles.

Label regulars Cody Currie, Cor.ece, JKriv, Saucy Lady and Guinu are joined by newcomers Kim Anh, Prince of Queens, Yuu Udagawa, Gene Tellem and others for a 13-track sonic escapade through deep house, disco, and electronic sounds.

Growing up in Boston we had many DJ role models. There was Biscuithead records owner, former Loft resident and Utopia founder, DJ Bruno, the godfather of Boston's Deep4Life scene house community. Of course the king of Digging, club rocking, DJ Kon, our disco mentor. Then there was 4Front Records owner and founder of the Rinse and the Boston Jungle/D&B scene, DJ Statik. The list goes on and on, but one of the most important was unsung deep house hero KC aka K Civ. As resident at monthly dance gathering Soul Revival and Bruno's Utopia, he showed us that eclectic, multi-cultural sounds could make people move even at a dance-party.

We've stayed in touch with KC over the years and recently he's been sending us a string of amazing edits that have been all over our DJ sets. Now, to continue our FREE EDIT SERIES on Soul Clap Records, we present to you 4 of our favorites. Club tested and ready for any eclectic dancefloor or set of ears.

Smallville Records sub-label Fuck Reality storms back with an eclectic batch of dancefloor excursions courtesy of Super Jim Z on 'Fuck Reality 06'. Having first connected with the Australian producer while touring the country in 2016, Smallpeople now tap Super Jim Z for his first outing on the label. Here we are introduced to the rhythmic creativity at the heart of Super Jim Z's music, fusing deep bass lines with driving percussion and intricately woven textures. Smallpeople had this to say about the new material that he sent over: "We were blown away and when we played them out at our monthly residency at Golden Pudel in Hamburg, we decided to gave them a home on our Fuck Reality." And we're oh so glad these tunes have a home. Tip!

During a year like we've never seen before, the Sol Power Sound imprint reaches the proud milestone of its tenth release, "Lomé Connections in Hi-Fi" by the Sol Power All-Stars, because the music simply can't stop now.

To anchor the EP, the Sol Power All-Stars revisit some touchstones that have been featured on previous releases. Massama Dogo, of DC based band Elikeh, connects the capitol cities of Togo and the United States with "Va Sé Da", much as he did on the Sol Power All-Stars’ Djidjo Vide EP from 2016. Elikeh guitarist Frank Martins (who got his start with legendary 1970s Nigerian psych rock bands) propels the slinky afro groove while the LA-based Jungle Fire lends its infamous horn section to give the hook its punch.

The "Va Sé Dub" increases the slap factor as well as dancefloor tension, letting darker synths fill in the stripped down space as the Jungle Fire horns take center stage and stretch the jam all the way out.

The Jose Marquez mix of "Djidjo Vide" was previously only seen in digital form in 2016. This sturdy and deep take was just waiting in the wings to serve as the hidden muscle in the B1 slot of a physical release.

"Lift It Up Again" is a treat for adventurous selectors that closes the project. It carries the same DNA of the other tunes but pushes the vibe further left with dubbed out Caribbean samples, tripped out synths, and broken drum patterns.
