Lenzman - FABRICLIVE x Bukem In Session Mix

On Friday 6th June, the Dutch drum & bass producer, Lenzman, will toast the release of his Looking At The Stars album live in Room One. Released on Goldie’s inimitable Metalheadz label the fifteen track long player explores the Amsterdam based maestro’s brew of overtly musical, soulful blend of d&b. Saying “I wanted this album to be personal more than anything,” Lenzman’s certainly created a balanced album that fully reflects the spectrum of human emotion, [as the press release puts it] “from introspection to confidence and doubt”.

We’ll be catching up with Lenzman in depth and proper next week, but for now he’s pre-empted the interview, his album and the launch party by bestowing on us a 33 minute mix that includes and highlights the potency of a few upcoming cuts from Looking At The Stars…

SECTION-Everyday Junglist Podcast-Episode 576

In the lead up to their appearance at Drum&BassArena - 19 Years @ Heaven in London on May 24th, we caught up with Blu Mar Ten and scored this vintage mix from '96. 19 years old and still sounding suave, it's matured like a fine wine. Recorded onto cassette with 2 belt-drive turntables (as they were too broke for Technics at the time), and a mixer with no EQ, this is a true piece of D&B history. One for the heads.

so bad so deep so strong... LTJ live n direct @ Fabric Christmas eve 2005. As we approach the 10 year anniversary of the 10 year anniversary it seems fitting to upload this set. The first track is copied from later in the set (67m) so you get it twice - one of the best ever made - so deep n beautiful it brings tears to my eyes (serious flashbacks). Sadly the sound quality is poor - the MCs are too loud, the music too quite and too many rewinds for my liking, don't get me started... anyway great vibes and massive tracks.

If anyone has that first track in a good set please let me know, I've not heard it anywhere else. The original was special, the remix is beyond words, big up Omni Trio. 

If you're new to Bukem I seriously suggest you check out Progression Sessions 01, the best Bukem & Conrad mix set around. Big up the Good Looking crew for keepin it real since the early 90's.

Time for a special and long overdue release here at noisyvagabond! For our 50th release we present a gigantic collection of tracks (43 to be exact for a total of 6 hours of music!) from Split Phase. Split Phase was a live electronic duo hailing from Upstate NY consisting of myself (c. ‘transient’ martin) and Mike McIntosh active for a period roughly through 2010-2014. For our live shows, we were joined by Nate Vanslyke on lights and visuals. I provided the musical backing via loopers and a plethora of synths and effect processors while Mike provided the rhythms via an acoustic and electronic drum kit. Split Phase was an attempt to make music in real time which generally was made with sequencers or computers and bring those types of sounds into an improvised live process. As such, the music lost some of it’s precision but gained much in the way of humanized passionate expression. Presented here is a small selection of the countless hours of recordings we amassed practicing and creating on a near daily basis. You will find an eclectic mix of genres ranging from jazz, funk, drum and bass, dub, techno, downtempo, and more as we were never interested in pigeonholing ourselves into any particular sound. I hope you can find something in this compendium that moves you. One day the fates will realigned and new Split Phase music will be churned out. Until then, ENJOY!

Split Phase was a live electronic duo consisting of Carl 'transient' Martin on keys and live electronics and Mike McIntosh on acoustic/electric drums and samples. After meeting in '07 the duo started Experimenting within the musical spectrum and refusing to be pigeon-holed into genre specifics, they tap an eclectic mix of styles to weave their sonic tapestries.

With an arsenal of synths, guitars, drums, loopers, effects, and computers Mike and Carl created a live sound that is usually reserved for produced music. Blending improvisation and structure, the duo could effortlessly switch between diverse styles such as House, Drum and Bass, Downtempo, Jazz, Jams, and everything in between.

From the beginning Split Phase was a constantly evolving force adapting a do it yourself mentality in and out of the studio, from music production, recording and mastering all of the tracks in house.
