For the next entry in the Sorted Series we are very pleased to release a mix from Chicago's Chris Widman. Chris, as some of you know, played for Sorted way back at Sorted 3 with Hodge, Call Super & Dean Grenier. Chris, in addition to being a Smart Bar resident, also hosts the weekly WLUW radio show @abstractscience , going strong since 1997. 

Chris has been our friend & fellow traveler for nearly 25 years, and this mix demonstrates the depth of his immersion in dance music culture with skill & aplomb, guiding the listener on a trip across a landscape that Sorted fans know well: from house to techno to dubstep to the broken beats of Bristol, it goes deep and hard and, like a Sorted party, ends with a proper rinse-out.
This is an absolutely killer mix, from a true selector who has lived & breathed this music for decades. We are proud to release it, and we are proud to call Chris our friend.

Chris Widman is a Chicago DJ that defies easy classification. Host of the weekly radio program Abstract Science (since 1997 and a DJ since 1995), he is at the forefront of breaking new styles, crossing genres and re-introducing forgotten music. Whether DJing for the dancefloor or the armchair, Widman is known for his adventurous mixing of dubstep, techno and everything else, creating his own form of crowd-pleasing sonic warfare.

Club kid since 1986 near Chicago, favoring the WaxTrax electronic sound. Was introduced to House music in 1989 at an afterhours in Orlando, Aahz, where DJ Kimball Collins and lighting goddess Stace Bass crafted some amazing nights. Started playing records in 1993 between the move from Florida to Colorado, buying some of my first records at Gramaphone in Chicago. Had a residence at the Hide and Seek in Colorado Springs from 1995-1998, playing with guest like The Baroness, DJ Buck. Worked at record stores PollyEsta's '95-'96, Toons in Colorado Springs '96-'98 and Catflap Records behind Soulflower in Denver '98-'99. Presently part of the Communikey collective out of Boulder. Still carrying the torch, freaking the funk. Underground forever baby!
