The latest instalment of our podcast series features Gan D. The mix is a reflection of his personal journey as both a listener and a selector ranging from ambient to halftime to drum and bass, jungle, and beyond, avoiding boxing himself into one particular style. The slow, organic build leads the listener from calm contemplation into something more expansive, a sense of warmth, uplift, and renewal. 

With this mix Gan D wanted to take a more emotional and introspective approach keeping storytelling as a central aspect of his approach to build the set. “I imagine it being heard on a foggy, misty, hazy morning, when everything feels still and slightly surreal. As the set begins to unfold, it mirrors the moment the sun starts breaking through the fog, gently illuminating everything around it.” 

Moments of collective intensity on the dancefloor have left lasting imprints that guide Gan D’s musical direction. “Two of the biggest inspirations for this particular set were Nea’s closing set at Moerasa and the music at Refractor Festival. I’m also constantly inspired by witnessing artists I admire live. Seeing them in action often sparks new ideas and perspectives for my own sets.”

 “I hope to create an immersive space where listeners can enter a meditative state, something that lifts the mind and spirit beyond the everyday. The intention is to evoke a sense of elevation, introspection, and emotional connection, allowing each listener to interpret the journey in their own way.”

We were deeply moved by this mix, and we hope you are too. Enjoy this morning blooming into color.

Following the acclaimed self-released “Hwan Se 환세”, Korean composer Okgwa comes back on Polën with her most dense work yet : Hayan Kkot.

Drawing from the Korean spiritual concept of Han (a blend of deep grief and resentment, but not without hope), Okgwa weaves a subtle web that stretches across space and seasons, reflecting on death, life and on the fragile boundaries between humans, consistently shaping her unique sound through an intense ten-track album that follows directly on from her first album.

In Korea, the year is traditionally divided into 24 solar terms (절기), subtle seasonal points based on the movements of the sun and moon that guide farming and life rhythms.
In Okgwa’s previous album, the last track was Equinox (추분 or 춘분). The following solar term after the equinox is Hanro (Cold Dew): the moment when autumn deepens, the air turns sharp and clear, and cold dew gathers on the grass.

This new album, organized in three acts, closes with the track Hanro, which is also its release day: October 8th. A time when the earth itself exudes that cool, luminous breath.

The Space Drum Meditation remix enriches Okgwa’s sonic voyage, offering a striking and singular reinterpretation of the track Sikdang.

Divina Mundi: Tales of a dream and an acoustic reconstruction

When I enter the forbidden world, I'm frozen. I don't move, I look around. Everything seems strange to me and everything is completely different from what I am used to. I have no idea what's happening to me right now and I feel scared. This place is bursting with life and the creatures don't look like normal animals, but are much more airy and abstract. Every time I try to look at them, they disappear again, which makes it difficult to make an accurate observation. They make noises, which sound very harmonious and oscillating and have a mystical effect. The atmosphere in this place is completely filled with these benevolent sounds without being perceived as disturbing. I realize that this world is and has always been in perfect balance. In this pre- or post-human reality there is nothing that can disturb this tender and sensitive harmony. This thought is disturbing, because I know that a wrong action on my part would disturb this balance and endanger this utopian system. So I stay calm and observe everything without moving. Every object in this world is in motion and everything seems to revolve around a center point, which is too abstract to be recognized by me as such. Entropy is not present in this world. There is no intrinsic quest for disorder, because everything is perfect.

With a new LP slated for Osiris Music, he takes a welcome turn into more impalpable realms, focusing his sound increasingly on dubbed-out atmospheres. Hi! We are back again with the 5th season.

Redwan who has been a resident in Madrid since 2011, has worked closely with several media as Geometrika FM, Abysmal, Forward, XXXO, Giradiscos, Electromagnética Radio and Clubbingspain. He is currently a member of Trauma, the collective which has brought to Madrid some of the best talents of the most risky techno.

Let me tell you about Redwan. As for Redwan, his influences come from Detroit (UR) to Berlin (Basic Channel, Tresor), through Birmingham, but always with the spotlight on the new mutations that techno offers. A really nice technique in the mix that in his own words, "the only premise has been to select some techno at a very low BPM, showing how it can be so mental and deep, and making body and mind dance together."

Simone Bauer is a 22 year old musician from Terni, a city placed in the center of Italy and surrounded by the mountains. First drummer, he started to get more passionate about electronic music and going to clubs and rave parties in Rome. Techno music striked him immediately because he found it like "it has a way of uniting people who come from completely different worlds and I saw a form of spirituality through dancing it which can bring people in a state of deep meditation sharing the same energy and conscience". Very influenced by the roman scene with artists like Giorgio Gigli, Luigi Tozzi, Feral or Brando Lupi, Simone finds his inspiration while taking distance from the city and staying in nature. Now, he is known in the deep techno scene for his beautiful releases on @norite, @annulled_music and @palmstructure.

This superb mix is a beautiful representation of the aesthetics promulgated by the Italian ambient scene: crystalline sounds combined with hypnotic and dreamy sequences, never too dark, inviting the listener to follow the obvious light expressed by the music, sometimes accompanied by ritual rhythms and percussion reminiscent of techno heat.
