Sous le principat d’Hadrien (117-138), l’historiographe Suétone travaille au palais comme secrétaire et bibliothécaire. Grâce aux archives impériales qu’il consulte librement, il entreprend d’écrire les biographies des premiers Césars, de Jules César à Domitien, retraçant ainsi près de cent-cinquante ans d’histoire qui ont bouleversé l’histoire de Rome. Son œuvre, la Vie des douze Césars, riche de détails intimes sur les maîtres de Rome, est une source essentielle demeurée célèbre en dépit de ses nombreuses exagérations et inexactitudes. En replaçant les premiers empereurs dans leur contexte social, politique et surtout familial, Virginie Girod, forte de sa connaissance intime de la période, met avec talent ses pas dans ceux de Suétone et raconte leur véritable saga faite de trahisons, de manipulations et d’amours déçues. Elle présente pour les auditeurs de Storiavoce un [Cours d'Histoire] qui leur est consacré. Dans ce troisième et dernier volet, elle aborde les règnes de Vespasien, Titus et Domitien. Elle est interrogée par Christophe Dickès.



Notre professeur: Docteur en histoire, Virginie Girod a travaillé sous la direction de Yann Le Bohec. Elle est spécialiste de l’histoire des femmes et de la sexualité dans l’Antiquité romaine. En 2013, elle publie un ouvrage très remarqué: Les Femmes et le sexe dans la Rome antique qui a été réédité dans la collection de poche Texto des éditions Tallandier. Chez Tallandier, elle est aussi l’auteur d’une biographie consacrée à la mère de l’empereur Néron, Agrippine la Jeune et à l’impératrice Théodora. Elle vient de publier récemment La véritable histoire des douze Césars (Perrin, 413 pages, 24€).

Originally I just wanted to make five minutes of interchanching deep pad and noisy something, with a lot of non-silent space between them. I added some ambient field recordings in these spaces, because the name of the track was intended to be 'The Impossibility of Being Silent'.

But then my mi clouds produced some sounds of it's own and I liked it. At the end I had to reintroduce silence to all parts. All in all I hope this to be considered as a tentative approach to silence, with an increase towards the end.

I lived in Houston for 9 months in 1997.  Lived and worked on Westheimer Rd.  I worked near River Oaks at a tech startup.  My wife worked somewhat nearby on Greenway Plaza at what is now Invesco.

The food in Houston was excellent.  One time, Dusty Hill from ZZ Top was behind us in line at a BBQ joint and ordered "a quart of jambalaya".  Yes, he was dressed like he was on stage.  I thought it was the perfect Texas moment.  Although a close second was going out with Ann's co-workers to somebody's horse farm in the country and one her co-workers rode a horse backwards very fast.  Nice people.

There should be more cars on whatever road this is.  I remember the traffic was crazy.  And the air often smelled of gas, the result of being close to oil refineries.

This track is a combination of several pieces of mine:  Aleodeology's "Time Travel Destination in the Past", "Simulated Gravity", "Aleodeological Travel", and "Empty Interstate Due to Microaggressions", along with my side band Vibrating Wires' "The Long Drive Out", "The Path to REM Sleep", and "Southwestern Desert" - and some field recordings of rain that I recorded.
