Liz is a U.S. Army veteran who came to practice (in part) to help her with PTSD. In their conversation, David and Liz discuss contemporary definitions of trauma and how this relates to the current moment; the neurophysiology of trauma, including the relationship between what Liz terms the “thinking brain” and “survival brain”; and their current assessments of the impacts of COVID-19, it’s impact on social windows of tolerance, and their hopes for the path ahead.

this is ¶radio hummingbird's contribution to the Naviar Haiku music challenge volume #363. each week participants are asked to create a piece of music in response to a provided haiku poem (see above).

this piece has been recorded on a eurorack modular synthesizer in one single take. the only outboard effects utilised have been a singing wine glass and a cassette tape echo directly interfaced with the modular. a daw has only been used for a light mastering of the recording.

this week's poem is magic. and so is the track i tried to create in response to it. put it on endless looping and forget about time and space.......

He has studied and practiced meditation in multiple Buddhist traditions for over 30 years and spent altogether 5 years in meditation retreats. Stephan was a monk in the Tibetan tradition for 11 years and teaches meditation in Buddhist centers in Europe.
