About a month ago, my family received news that my brother was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer.  While the news has been quite a shock and a life changing moment for my brother, his positive attitude and strength continue to be his greatest asset winning this battle.

After visiting my brother in hospital and for his upcoming birthday, I spent the last few weeks working on a song along with my bandmates from the SteppingSTONE Band. For many of us, music can inspire, motivate and calm us.  There is always a song that can relate to a particular situation.  My hopes for this song was to remind my brother of his courage, strength and what he means to me as a brother. 

I would also like to stress the importance of cancer awareness and early detection. “Most cases of colon cancer begin as small, noncancerous (benign) clumps of cells called adenomatous polyps. Over time some of these polyps become colon cancers.
Polyps may be small and produce few, if any, symptoms. For this reason, doctors recommend regular screening tests to help prevent colon cancer by identifying polyps before they become colon cancer (www.mayoclinic.org).”
